    Hi

I bought a MA600 years ago. Worked excellent with my old phone (Nokia
    6110 I think) i.e. non IRDA phone.

    When I upgraded to a Nokia6210 (i.e. IRDA) I could not get the MA600
to work. I gave up. When I upgraded recently to a 6610 I decided to
    try again. No luck.

Unfortunately my PC has not been upgraded and I still run the same
    Win98 PC.

I downladed the drivers from mobile action's website, and followed the
instruction and installed the nokia software that came with the phone.

Here is what happens when I bring my phone close:

I get a brief period (+- 1 second) of comunication and then the IR
monitor stops showing the data transmission. It just shows two IR
ports pointed at each other with no data line between them. After a
while this connection is lost ( I think the phone switches off IR
because no data is being sent).

The phone works fine with IR on my work laptop. It is definetively
the IR and not the phone. Whe I point my laptop IR at the MA600 I get
the same results as with the phone.

Can anyone running the MA600 on Win98 help?

This is my setup (Control Panel):
    Under device manager I have:
Ir - IR communications device - Microsoft driver (is this right?)
    Network adapters - MA 600
Ports - Virtual Com & Lpt ports

    Under network:
    I have TCPIp etc.
    and
Fast Infrared protocol --> MA600 (when I open this there are no
    bindings)
    MA600
    - Enhanced mode selected
    - Bindings = fast infrared protocol
    - Infrared tranc: MA600
    - Serial port: com1 (i don't have another)

    Under infrared:
    Enable IR ticked
Search for connection ticked: 5 seconds
    Limit speed ticked: 38.4kps
    Plug and play: not ticked

Can anyone compare this to their setup and sport problems?

When you reply can you send an email to me to inform me that you
replied, or reply to my email.

    Thanks
    Louis

For some reason or other the ma600 drivers do not always install the
irda drivers properly. I had this problem at work, and if you download
and install the demo version of logomanager then it will probably tell
you there is an error and will offer to correct it. You may find this
fixes your problem. It did for me.
