I take it that setting the alarm on the phone, after the time, it is
    turned off.

There isn't a way to make it be always on -- like a daily alarm?

Not for the alarm clock function, no; you have to switch it on again after
    it cancels.

You could try setting a repeating event in the calendar, but that might
use up a lot of dynamic memory.

No, a repeating event uses up no more than a normal event. The data used to
store an event is a fixed amount which consists of various fields to store
things like the text, the time, the start date, if it's repeating or not,
repeating frequency, etc... whether you set it to repeat or not it still
only uses that same amount of memory.

Yes, I know I have the manual (well PDF version anyway -- which is a
fair size smaller than the printed one I must say.) but.....

    What is the difference between:

    Day note

    and

    Make a note

And is there a way to look at a list of dates (daynotes?) which are
pening short of scrolling through the calandar looking for bold
    dates?

And, how do I make one of these "repeating events"?

Day Notes displays a list of events that you have programmed into your
calendar for the day you have selected... basically that day's events. Make
a note makes a new event to put into the calendar for the day you have
selected. So, one views them, one makes them.

    > And is there a way to look at a list of dates (daynotes?) which are
    > pening short of scrolling through the calandar looking for bold

No, unless you sync your calendar with Outlook or some other software on a
PC. You have to look for a bold date (it has one or more events programmed
into it) and clicking on Day Notes to display what they are. They could be
    birthdays, reminders, meetings, etc...

    > And, how do I make one of these "repeating events"?

Say you want to set a reminder to watch something on TV every Monday at 7pm
    to 8pm....
You go to Calendar (Menu then 9 on 6310i), if it's after 8pm on Monday
scroll forward to the next Monday (you can't set events in the past)
otherwise if Monday is today then select today which will already be
    highlighted by default.
Goto "Options" then "Day notes" to display Monday's events (may be empty).
Goto "Options" then "Make a note" then "Meeting" (a meeting is a timed event
with a start time, stop time, and optional alarm - use this for most
    things).
Enter a subject such as "Star Trek" or whatever (obviously) then "Options"
and "Save" to save the subject. This will be displayed in Day notes when
    you've finished.
Enter the start time 19:00 then OK.
Enter the end time 20:00 then OK.
If you want an alarm to sound at some point select "With tone" and select
when you want the alarm to sound. If you want it to just display the message
select "Silent" and select when you want the message to be displayed. If you
want nothing to happen select "No alarm". It will say "Note saved".
To make this a repeating event, select "Options" then "Repeat" then select
    "Weekly" (for this example).

The event will now appear at the same time for the current and all future
Mondays. If you delete ANY of them this will delete ALL of them, so be
    careful.

Obviously, to answer the previous posters problem of an alarm, simply set
the start and end times to the same time (say 07:00 if that's when you want
to get up) and set alarm to sound "at event time" so that it sounds at 7am.
If you want to have an alarm for Monday to Friday but not the weekend then
you'll have to make five individual weekly repeating events, one for Monday,
one for Tuesday, one for Wednesday, one for Thursday and one for Friday.

    Done

    Adam

    Oh tuche Olaf.

When I was looking for a phone, and read the manaul, I was impressed
by how think and comprehensive it is.

Buying a second hand one with NO manual kind of makes it DIFFICULT to
    say the least!

The .PDF file which I got from NOKIA's web page is a real cut down
    version.

    Sheesh!
