Bush lied. Powell's whole Feb speech to UN now discredited

So far dribbled out... and admitted to:

    Aluminum tubes not for Uranium
    Mobile Labs not for BioWeapons
    No Uranium purchase from Niger
    Drones not for weapons
Nuclear program still buried under rose bushes
    No Smallpox found
    Only 2 SCUDs found

But on the positive side CDMA has been kept out of Iraq

Frankly nearly all the rest of the world were believing that back in
February - but to say so was to put you in league with 'global terrorism' or
just Dubya's bad books (as the French & German governments found to their
    cost).

The issue is that it would seem no matter how little evidence emerges of
deployable WMD - the US/UK governments are not going to admit they went to
war on a false premise (whether they knew that at the time or not). But then
politicians of any country don't often admit to being wrong and in this case
    would have nasty legal implications.

Which makes this whole arguement sterile. Unlike the present situation in
Iraq. I'm sure most sensible Americans realise that the greatest bar to
international co-operation and reconciliation is sitting in the White House.
And the rest of the world can do little about that. Only, perhaps, the
    American electorate in 2004.

That is the issue. And 95%(?) of the world's electorate can only be
spectators. Doesn't say much about democracy - does it?

Gore won in 2000, so there you are.

Just reading Al Franken's book. It's wonderful.

I can't help responding to those who are so uninformed about the US and its
    governmental formation.

The electoral college elects the president. The number of delegates are
determined based on state populations, and selected by the candidate who
win the state (by whatever margin). The votes that are counted are
determined by the town/city/county/etc supervisor of elections. In
Florida, where I suspect that the complainer is referring to, the three
main counties where there were concerns (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm
Beach) recounted ballots. However, the Secretary of State is the one to
certify the elections (ie. supposed to have the final say to verify that
the process and results are fair and accurate).

OPINION: The fact that ANY of the courts were involved shows how the US
    society is far too litigious

The steps were followed in Florida, and the votes were appriately counted.
The people who complained about difficult ballots should complain to the
DEMOCRAT who ran the Palm Beach County elections.

Basically, it wasn't the chads that were the problem in Florida, it was
voters who were bussed to the polls and told who to vote for -- without any
education on HOW to physically vote.

Like it or not, the US has a very logical (and mostly fair) method for
electing/recalling/impeaching officials. Those who feel that Bush has done
poorly should double their efforts to find a successor they prefer; those
who feel that Bush has done an admirable job despite extremely difficult
situations should ensure they get their message out.

The thing I like with politics is that suppose Mr Blair hadn't acted on his
instincts and Saddam really *was* building up an arsenal of WOMD (which I
still believe he was not completely innocent here). When we are suddenly
in WW3 what would we do then? Nothing, cos be too late and considering he
has (or had) a main supply of the world's fuel it could be a tad disasterous
when it came to attacking - with nuclear/chemical missiles aimed at you.
I think the best thing about Mr Blair is he is willing to put first in what
he believes in before his foot in No 10. That to me is the sign of a good
leader, not one that does things for political gain and brushes it under the
carpet till it is too late. Margaret Thatcher would have made her millions
and at a suitable time have had made her own concrete bunker leaving us to
our own devices (IMHO of course).

I really do think Mr Blair did the right thing and is a shame he is getting
bad press over this. It could have been much worse if he'd left it and
that gamble had turned out to be wrong.

Bush on the other hand is a little more political I think than what he
believes in, but I think he did believe in this.

Never mind, time will tell in 2006.

Just to turn the subject back to phones, what model has Mr Blair got?
