I have a pretty old nokia 5165 from Cingular. I changed my phone number 2
days ago and I now found that my phone can't show any caller ID.

Called the cingular CSR twice. They are so dumb! They said, your phone is
so old that it must be something wrong with your phone. Please repair it or
upgrade it (with new contract of coz).

But my phone works fine before I changed my number. Any other way out?
    Thanks!

there is most likely nothing wrong with your phone...

some area codes and exchanges (the first 6 digits of your phone number ....
copmmonly referred to as NPA/NXX ) do not support caller ID.... try calling
the CSR again and asking if your area code and exchange supports caller
ID... if the CSR hesitates or tries to feed you a line escalate to tech
services or their supervisor... Caller ID is a network feature meaning it is
loaded at the HLR...if the feature isnt available in your number range (not
common but it does happen) deal with it or change your number again... the
last and most obvious is that during the change process the caller id
feature was deleted from your service...
