I got the HDW-2 and it works well (other than the insanity of Nokia
putting the voice tags on the *contact* rather than specific phone
numbers for that contact!). But the earloop that comes with it is pretty
flimsy/brittle. Mine broke when I was trying to attach it. You get two,
different sizes, but this was the one that "fit" me. So I call Nokia to
try to get a replacement. This thing should cost like 50 cents, just a
piece of plastic. They told me I have to send the whole headset back!!
How stupid is that. The earloop comes in the box not even attached to
the headset. I had the person double check, and she said that's their
policy. Anyway, does anyone know *another* way I could get a replacement
for this? And the battery as well, I don't think it lasts as long as
they claim, and I'd like to have a spare.

Try a Nokia Service Centre. I got two spares for £10 (I'm in the UK) - not
cheap but there wasn't much of a choice..!

BTW not sure what you mean about voice tags being applied to a contact
rather than a phone number, that's not true on my 6310i - I have 4 phone
numbers for a friend, one work, one mobile and his two home landlines; each
    has its own voice tag.

I went into the carphone warehouse here in the UK and showed them mine had
    broken.
they said it was policy to " give " a new one to their buyers.

I had purchased a headset from them ages ago so was registered on the
system, so they handed one to me, and another for a spare to save me having
to go back when that one broke :-)

    Worth the visit.

The unfortunate thing is, I bought the headset to use as handsfree in the
car, but after Dec 1st 2004 your not permitted to use a headset whilst
    driving...bummer!!

    Regards

So what did you do the week after when they broke again? only solution I've
found is to glue them, but even then they only last a month or so. seriously
    crap design.

Yes, apparently it's become illegal to do more than one thing at a time.
I'll quite happily abide by this, when the other passengers are also banned
from speaking to the driver too. the only difference between talking to
someone next to you, and someone on the phone, is that the passenger can hit
you if you say something nasty. Will it now be illegal to change tracks on
the stereo? I know, lets make it so the driver does nothing but drive, none
of this pressing buttons at the same time to activate his lights, or
    windscreen wipers.

If I were to see a guy weaving in traffic on a motorway, and called it in,
would the police now come and arrest me for that? it's ridiculous. perhaps
it is a distraction, but no more so than a bright pink mini cooper going the
other way. or the latest wonderbra billboard.

I'm a bus driver and they do that anyway..!

I not only have to drive a bus, I also have to listen to 70-plus screaming
schoolkids while they're chucking pop cans and stuff at each other,
fighting, swinging from the handrails in the stairwell, yelling at the tops
of their voices 2ft from my left ear and much more besides..! I also have to
talk on the 2-way radio (footswitch operated PTT) if I'm called.

All the above is far more distracting than any phone call IMHO..!
