I can't remember if the 8310 can do timed profiles, I know my 6510 could,
but there were differences.... if it can here's how to:

look under the profiles menu, when you select a profile, and it gives you
the option to activate or edit the profile, there will be an option called
'timed' you can select this, and then set a time for the profile to expire.
you'd have to do this every night however. and afterwards it would switch
    back to the previous profile.

all of the above is as usual contained within the manual. don't say you
haven't got one, since they are available at www.nokia.com.

with better phones like the 7/3650 you can set scheduled profiles, even
change profile based on which cell you're on, but only with 3rd party apps.

what 3rd party apps can I use to schedule profiles for 8310?
    tia

None. the 3rd party apps are part of the smartphone functionality of the S60
series phones. the 8310 can't even handle java apps. Only way to add such
features to the older range such as the 8310 is with a modified flash, and
to my knowledge there are no such mods for the 8310.

sorry I couldn't be of some real help

The only way I can think of this to kinda work is to set you phone on silent
and every morning you'll have to select a "day" profile of your choice to
    expire at 10pm.

If you read what he said, he said "with better phones like the 7/3650 you
can set scheduled profiles.....but only with 3rd pardy apps".... He didn't
say you can do it with the 8310.

As the 8310 doesn't support Java, there will be no 3rd party apps that exist
for it, hence there are none that can change the profiles on a schedule.

Yes it has, menu 3-4-3 but they are one-shot and have to be activated each
    time

As I understood it, the original poster wants the profile to ACTIVATE at a
certain time, then deactivate at a certain time. Timed profiles do not
achieve the former. For e.g. activate silent automatically at midnight when
you go to bed, then deactivate it (just as in a timed profile) at 8am.
