Usually "Home" means you are using an AT&T 8265 on a different
provider, like Cingular. If so, you'll probably have trouble when
roaming, since your phone will lock onto AT&T's roaming partners
    instead of yours.

If my above guess is correct, have your provider send an IRDB
(Intelligent Roaming DataBase) update via OAP (Over-the-Air
Programming) to your phone. It should then display your carrier
    instead of "Home".

Hi Todd thanks for your reply. I acually live in Barbados and there is only
one provider. On my old Nokia phone however i could key in *3001#12345#
select NAM 1 go down to the alpha tags and enter anything I wanted. But when
I try it on my new phone it does not work. The only thing that changes is
the name at startup. I was wondering if there was a different code that you
had to change for the newer Nokia phones. Anyway thanks for your help

IIRC, that "feature" went away with the dual-mode (800MHz-only) phones. The
tri-mode (800/1900) TDMA Nokias won't "listen" to your alpha tags and
instead display the pre-programmed provider name tagged in your phone, or
"Home" if it doesn't match or doesn't have one.

There is a way to change it, but it involves editing the Private Systems
data in the programming menu to match your home provider's info, and
entering your desired Alpha tag under the private system. If you do this
wrong can force your phone to ignore the Home provider. I don't remember
how to do it offhand- I found it once with a Google search, and didn't think
    it was worth the bother.

    Good luck!
