How weird is this!!

was messing with my phone tonight and it was on keypad lock and all of a
sudden i dialed a combination of keys, while in keypad lock, and one
combination (08) appeared on the screen, I thought to myself... hmmm

so i tried every combination 081, 082, 083, etc... to see if it was some
sort of secret code, but nothing, so i dialled 08 call. it said attempting
emergency call, I listened, expecting nothing to happen and to my surprise,
the operator said, emergency services, which service please?

i said i didn't need emergency service and he asked me why i dialled 999, i
said i didn't, i told him i dialled 08, he said no, you dialled 999. i went
ok. he then asked me to hang up.

I thought you could only dial 112 or 999 when keypad lock was on, i must be
wrong..
i'm on 02, nokia 6100

I've got a nokia 5100, in Australia, and I noticed the same thing the other
day.

The emergency number is some country (can't remember which), Mexico I think,
is 08.
And shame on you for keeping the call going when it said "attempting
emergency call" and waiting their time!
