    Hi all,

A week or so ago i dropped my 6100 in my pint when i was drunk (when
it was switched on). The screen kinda pulsed on and off for a few
seconds and then went off and wouldnt switch on again. Next day when i
was sober I opened it up and cleaned out all of the beer using acetone
to clean the electrical parts and soapy water for the plastic case.
After this it would switch on but the screen wasnt working and there
was no sound through the speaker. The LEDs came on and the sound
worked through a hands free kit so i could sorta make calls but was a
bit of an arse with the screen being blank. I got a new screen and
speaker off ebay (quite cheap too) and have installed them and the
screen is now fine but there is still now sound except for the hands
    free kit.

It could be i got sent a duff speaker but I doubt it. Does anyone have
any ideas what could still be wrong with it or what the next step
    should be???
And no it wasn't insured because I was too tight to pay for it.

    Appreciate any help.
    Cheers,
    Nick

Good idea, but I find them a bit hard to digest though.

There are two kind of speakers, one for ringing tones and one for voice. You
bought the one for voice.. the other one is inside the frame.

Ok, but I have no sound at all, no voice, no ring tone and no beeps of
any kind, exepct thru the hands free, thru which i get everything. I
understand what you're saying but how does it help me???

Oh, and you'll all be pleased to know the vibrate has now packed in as
well, even though it was fine before.

and I'm sure the use of acetone played no small part.

I'm missing the top portion of the thread so maybe you have tried this, but
I dropped my 6210 in the sea about a month ago and it was under 5m of water
for a fair bit of time. I fished it out, washed it with fresh water, then
with alcohol, and it recovered after about three days of drying out. Still
some very minor probs, but I can live with them.
