I have a 7250i, and today my phone beeped with what I thought was an SMS
Message arriving, but when I looked at the screen it said "Email message
received" and the option buttons had "Call" and "Info" displayed above them.
Pressing "Info" displayed a typical SMS message advertising something, and
when I exited it returned to the main screen so I couldn't press the "Call"
button.
However, I also noticed that up at the tip left of the screen where it
usually displays an envelope when you have unread SMS messages, it was
displaying an "@" symbol. Which I assume meant I had an unread email
message.
I've been through every menu in my phone but couldn't find a way to read any
such email message. There was nothing in my Text or Multimedia Inbox, and no
mention of email messages other than in to send one in the Message menu. I
thought about the Network Messages folder in the Services menu but this was
also empty.
Does anyone know how to read such email messages? There is no mention of
this symbol in my manual that I can see, and searching on google groups
didn't return anything that appeared relevant.
After turning the phone off and on again the @ symbol disappeared.
Any ideas what all of this is about?

Or a nokia virus. Just use ur simcard in another phone for a few seconds,
then put it back into ur 7250i. Should clear off this nuisance.
(skippable part) >> technical explanation is ur phone recv'd a high-bit
character SMS causing the SW to have a lil prob with the symbols (temporary)
but not crashing it totally.

As I said in my original post, that inbox is empty.
Nah, it was an email message, said quite clearly on the display when it
arrived, and I could read it as a normal text message by clicking "View".

Nah... it said I'd received and "email message" when it arrived. So that @
symbol ties in with that. The advertisement was for an email-sms providing
company so that makes sense too.
It's nothing to do with out of range characters in the sms message causing
the @ symbol. The message WAS an email message. The phone clearly stated
this. The @ symbol is an obvious symbol do display when you have a new email
message.
It looks to me like it's an undocumented feature of the 7250i to be able to
receive email messages. Incidentally, on my old 7110, if I set the outgoing
message type to email, and send a message to my 7250i it happens again. I've
just never seen it before, and I can't get to the messages after I've
received them as there doesn't seem to be an email inbox.
