    Hi,

My Nokia 3310 is PAYG on the Orange network and working perfectly, as
far as I can tell. However, a few days ago, the letter e appeared in
the top left of the screen. When I'm using the phone, the 'e' sits just
to the right of the handset icon. Similarly, when I lock the keypad,
the little e moves to the right of the key icon.

This morning I rang Orange on 451 and eventually spoke to someone on
customer services, but they have never heard of this one.

Can anyone here enlighten me as to what this letter e means?

nokia bug. - use the affected SIM in a different phone and turn the other
phone on (standby mode) for a few seconds, then power it off and replace the
    sim into the first phone.

    Hi RAZO,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
    I've attempted your suggestion with a Nokia 402, and a Motorola c520,
but my little e refuses to budge. Incidentally, the 'e' also shows on
    the 402.

It's looking like I might just have to get used to it :-(

sure this is either the bug which was discovered years ago of just Oraneg
    being Orange.

'e' is for e-mail. even though the phone may or may not support e-mailling,
    the symbols still appears.

Or they came out with some stupid way of branding there phones.. lol...

try using logomanager or nokia profile.... this should get rid of it. you
must have a serial/usb data lead to use those programs. I dont think your
    phone supports infra red..

No, nothing unusual had happened before the e appeared. The sim had
been used in another phone for a few days though, but, I've done that
many times in the past, without a problem.

    Thanks, fellowscot.
I've thought about acquiring a data lead for this 'phone, maybe this is
just the excuse I need to go out and get one ;-)

    Thanks, GT.
    Nokia technical support is 75p/min.

The phone works okay, I'll just live with it.

Many thanks to, "tuned by RÄZO",
    "fellowscot"
and yourself, GT, for all your suggestions.

    Hello,

    > Nokia technical support is 75p/min.

Costs a lot here, too, but about the same than my service provider's tech
support - I was hopping it was the same with you.
