    At Amazon.com $229.99. $130 rebate from SprintPCS (with 2 year contract), $100
    rebate from Amazon.

I have no connection with Amazon, other than being amazed at the deals one can
    now get from them.

That's the same deal I mentioned last week. You can also get the VGA1000
free after rebate. I'm really tempted to purchase the 8100 from them, but
would like to hear from others who have made purchases through amazon
    (specifically phones and/or plans)

They require a new activation, not a swap on an existing plan. So, if
you just planned on upgrading your phone, you will be disappointed I
    think.

Maybe at other times, but the current rebate coupon on Amazon does not require
a new activation, and if one has had their current phone for 18 months, one is
eligible for SprintPCS rebates on new phones.

Both rebate forms say "new activation" or "new line of service".
I suppose that if you are not under contract that you could activate the new
phone to get the rebates, and then use number portability to port all you
    calls to the new phone?
BTW, this amazon offer is only good until 11-25, and the rebate form will be
off of the amazon site on 11-26.

Check on the 27th, Amazon may have an identical offer, over even better.
