What I mean is that I want it. The video is first-
generation quality. Nothing to rant about, but a pretty=20

Video, still, flash/Video light, Ready Link, Vision, 2-Way=20
SMS once we release that, and a really nice Navy Blue=20
exterior... I like, very much. In a way, though, it's=20
almost too small. I felt the little muscle that pulls the=20
thumb in getting tired after about 30 minutes of using the=20
phone. And I'll *never* get excited about that "lens in=20
back and below the fold" position.

Where would you want the lens?

BTW, I agree with you about this phone. I just got it a few days ago to
replace my 4900. Even forgetting all the camera/camcorder stuff, the
difference is dramatic. The sound quality on the 5500 is much better,
as is the graphics. Vision with laptop so far has been faster and less
prone to hang. In-phone Vision is now tolerable (though barely .

OK... I haven't even been lucky enough to see one in person yet, but I am
going to have to argue with you on the size thing. This is one thing that
has been driving me crazy about sprint (of course I said sort of the same
thing in a pervious message). I love the service (Sorry, but it is the
truth both the coverage and usually the CSRs), I think the plans are the
best, and then you put my company's discount (18%) on top and I just cannot
beat it... But, the phone suck... I current have the 5300 and I think it
is the best available (other then the new 5500/45000...) but it is tooo big,
the processor is too slow, and even with the extended battery it just
doesn't hold a charge long enough. Still I think this new phone will be
the best yet.

I have no plans for switching but it just seems that the all (ok at least
cingular, att, and verzion) have much better phones then sprint. I had
really hoped that the 5500 would be much thinner and get around 4.5 hours
with the standard battery, but then I guess I should expect too much. :-)

Here's one I haven't seen answered yet... We all know that the 5500 does
Video and that it would of course be a problem sending that to another phone
that doesn't support it, but I mostly send pics to non-phone email addresses
anyway. So, is Video covered with the Pictures Account? How does it work?
Any ideas? (Just wondering cause I will have to wait until either the new
5500 comes down in price a bit or see if my 5300 wears out before my two
year Best Buy Warrenty is over...)

Picturemail is $5, and VideoMail is $5. The two do *not* intersect. To=20
use all those services the VM4500 can do, you pay $30/month, or=20
$10/month with a plan that runs over $100/month.

And video to a phone that doesn't support VideoMail isn't problematic. =20
It's not possible. Share to one of those phones, and the user gets the=20
option to forward the share to an email of his choice.

Just got mine today.. Upgraded from a 5300... As with most Sanyo's, the
signal retention still rocks... If not a hair better than the 5300 was. I
love a BUNCH of things with it, but have 3 complaints, 2 major ones and 1
minor one...

Major complaints...

1). No Bluetooth... Sanyo and SprintPCS BOTH need to get on the ball with
this emerging technology. Its been out long enough. Time to get with it...

2). Like the 5400, Sanyo changed the power port on the bottom of the phone
to include the new "standard power port". Doing so, moved the "older" style
power port over a bit making my desktop charging stand (which I spent $100
for) useless... Anyone want to buy it?!

Minor complaint...

1). The 5300 came with BOTH a standard and extended batteries... The 5400
and 5500 both come with JUST a standard battery.

Overall, the phone is easier to use, the web browser seems faster and the
speakerphone ROCKS... The best one yet that I've played with... The video
capture is cool.. Its comparable to earlier web cams and only captures 15
secs with of video w/audio. When you upload (or email them) they come
through as QuickTime videos (so that helps a little with playback). The
pictures ARE crisper than those from a 5300 and 8100 (both of which I've
had/have). Haven't played with the ReadyLink yet cause it hasn't been added
to my employee plan yet. Side note about the speakerphone, its a FULL
duplex, so no more cut outs... Having the speakerphone also allows for
louder ringers...

BTW - FutureDial released updated drivers to support the 5400 and 5500 for
SnapSync recently. And they work like a charm.

It *is* the best yet, in my opinion. It doesn't feel=20
comfortable to my particular hand for an extended time of=20
use, but that's only relevant with the data features. I=20
don't think I'm going to be pressing buttons for 30=20
straight minutes in a voice, or even a Ready Link, call.

I *do* agree, though, that I wish we'd be more progressive=20
in the designs we'd accept. I watch over at a CDMA site=20
run by Qualcomm called 3GToday: http://www.3gtoday.com all=20
the phones that show up from around the world. And there=20
are some designs there I'd almost take out a 2nd mortgage=20
to get and use here. For one example:

I mean, even a relatively "gadget-free" phone like the=20

imagine how hot that phone might be with just the addition=20

I don't think you do. Right now, though, SPCS is all but=20
giddy about the revenue we're taking in from data services. =20
And that's even *with* the strangeness about modem-style=20
usage of the phones. And, if we lose *some* ground=20
relative to the others, and gain it in data revenue...=20
well... the math isn't *that* hard to work out.

Yes, I like the "twister", too, when I saw it in Japan. I wonder about
the sturdiness of the wires in the twist.

When I left Japan last July, DoCoMo had just released a clamshell with
a top that was almost as thin as the LCD panel and electronics driving
it. Again, I have to wonder at the sturdiness.

Last July 2 manufacturers were using the "twist" concept, although the
one for DoCoMo was quite bulky.

I guess that is why some people prefer only a pound of features.

Yeah, I wonder about the wires, too. Looks like there=20
*might* be some room to minimize the twisting effect on the=20
wires, though. I don't know. I haven't been lucky enough=20
to actually hold one.
