My boss wants me to have the Sanyo 8100 for the holiday. I hate flip
phones. I am sure when your out on the highways you dont want me in my 18
wheeler next to you trying to unflip my phone to answer it. The Nokia has
served me fine. O well

I find it as easy -- if not easier -- to "unflip" my new flip phone to
answer a call than I did with my old brick Sanyo 4900. Plus I'm not
hitting keys by accident any more. Use your 8100 for a week and see if
you don't agree.

Re: Sanyo 8100 Damn
I find my 8100 a bit difficult to open one-handed, because it means
having to push a finger between the keyboard and the lid to open it. But
it's really not a big deal, and (so far) the 8100 is the best phone I've
had. I think you'll like it once you get used to it.

Tell your boss to spring for the SCP-5500 (VM 4500). It's also a flip
but doesn't need to be opened to answer it. It can be set to answer
using the built-in speakerphone by just pressing a button on the side.
(Can also dial out without opening it by using voice-activated tags
attached to your phone book entries).

If I connect an earphone to the phone and close it while I am driving. If
it rings can I talk without opening it?

Why don't you just leave it open?

One of the major selling points/advantages of a Flip Phone
is that when it's closed the screen is protected from scratches/breaking.
Anyone who has had a screen break for no apparent reason and then found
out the warranty doesn't cover it because Sprint declares it must be
caused by "abuse", would want to be able to protect the screen as much
as possible.

True, but leaving it open is a very good solution for this guy who
does not like flip phones, does not want to be bothered with opening
one and is being required to carry one for work. Left open the talk
and end keys will allow the phone to function just like a curved Nokia
(the Nokia phone being the one he really wants to use--see original
message below).

I have a question for Ski, though: just curious, why does your boss
care what phone you carry?

Why would your boss care what particular model of phone you have?

Hmm, if I were your boss and I were that worried, I'd spring for a 2
megapixel camera (they're dirt cheap nowadays). Insruance companies
will gretly prefer 2MP image over the 320x200 that the 8100 puts out.
