Does anyone know what the PC Sync Menu is used for?
To go to it click on Menu, Tools/Extra, PC Sync, there are a couple of
different choices with in the menu. I've tried clicking on all of them
with and without a data cable.
I have referenced the downloadable owners manual and can not find
anything at all about it.
thanks

Re: Sanyo 5500 Menu Question
that's when you are syncing between the phone and your computer (like
uploading ringers using snap media or something)

Re: Sanyo 5500 Menu Question
So you have to have Snap Media (or simialar software) in order to use
these features on the phone?
Has anyone else used this menu usning Snap Media (or other software)
sucessfully?

I've used SnapMedia (and SnapSync for syncing contacts with MS Outlook)
on the Sanyo 4900 for this just fine. But they haven't released
SnapMedia for the 5500 unfortunately. Keep an eye on ...

and hope they get around to it.

Re: Sanyo 5500 Menu Question
BTW, I tried
http://www.sprintusers.com/focus/
which works fairly well. Got the ringer I wanted onto my phone. But
pictures are a bit weird -- they end up in the phone under "Screen
Savers". Anyone know of a way to get them into another location, like
under "My Pictures"?

Re: Sanyo 5500 Menu Question
I've read of some people downloading pictures and video from the phone
to a computer in SprintUsers.com. I think that they where using
SnapMedia, i'm still trying to get a clear answer on that.
That's what i'm interested in.

Well, as I said in a previous message in this thread, SnapMedia does NOT
work with the Sanyo 5500.

I just went to Sanyo's site, clicked on the phone model, then accessories
and came up with this page - http://tinyurl.com/ytszk , which deals
specifically with SnapSync, so I'm guessing that SnapMedia will be available
for the 5500 shortly.

Yes, SnapSync has been available for the 5500 since about four days
after the phone's release. But SnapMedia doesn't even show a "coming
soon" icon for that phone ...

Re: Sanyo 5500 Menu Question
I've read of somepeople being able to use SnapMedia on it using the
8100 dll file in snapmedia and editing the ini file for the 5500.
Don't know if it'll work or not, but may be worth a try for anybody
that has SnapMedia with the 8100's dll in it.

When it asked, I told SnapMedia I had the 8100, but it didn't work for
me. Don't know why it works for some and not others. Anyway, even it
"worked" (meaning connected), it wouldn't be ideal since the picture
cropping that SnapMedia does is based on the resolution of the phone in
question, and the 8100's display resolution is quite different.
I sent FutureDial an email today asking about SnapMedia for the 5500.
The reply was:
SnapMedia support is being finalized now.
No word on a release date.

Re: Sanyo 5500 Menu Question
Maybe they'll have a new release out soon that that fully supports it.
Is the latest version of SnapMedia 1.5 or 1.6?

The CD they sent me last week (to replace my 1.0 CD with no serial
number that I sent them) says 1.6.
(Hope I don't have to go through the CD-sending routine again when they
come out with 1.7 or whatever.)
