Okay, ringtone sites. I looked into a couple and I don't need their
collections of pop/crap ringtones, I just want to put some MIDIs from my own
computer on my phone.
I tried setting up some webspace, uploading the MIDI, then trying to download
it to the phone - the phone played it but didn't keep it. What special thing
are the ring sites doing (is it just special HTML code?) to get the phone to
recognize "ringer!" instead of just "sound"?

I don't understand why say this. Several ringtone site provide the=20
ability to upload your own files and then to download them. I=20
personally have enjoyed 3GUpload so much that I've simply stayed with=20
them, but I know they're not the only site allowing it.
And I'm pretty sure that MIDI files are allowed. You don't even have to=20
submit it as a pulbically-available download. You simply upload it to a=20
space they call your "Locker", and then you access it with your phone to=20
download it.
