Ok, so yesterday I activated my new T600, and then tried to port a number
from SunCom to my old N400, adding it to my family's (though my mother) AOL
Business account.
What is the general feeling on how long LNP takes right now??
I started the process around 5:30pEST on Friday...

Let us know when it happens. We're up to 10 days as well. Pretty poor
excuse for service.

Re: Porting Timeline Questions
I'm on 2 weeks so far with a port from AT&T Wireless.
The FCC should really fine the carriers. They had over 5 years to prepare
for this eventually happening. Both SprintPCS and AT&T Wireless began
charging customers over a buck per month for wireless number portabilty.
Both companies have collected millions in these fees (which a CNN report
called "cash cows" for wireless providers). The FCC is really looking
stupid.

It took 4 days to port from AT&T to Sprint in Metro Detroit. Store
sales person said 1-3 days.
I called on the 3rd day (35 minutes on hold) only to find out that the
sales person did not get all of the necessary info for the port. CS did
say it could take up to 10 days.
Much happier with Sprint. AT&T would send many calls to voice mail,
even when phone showed "multiple bars" for signal strength. PCS works
better inside more building also.

The people who took your port-in request should have done that for you. =20
If not, Customer Care is *supposed* to be trained in doing this. Or=20
Business Services, if you're that kind of customer. I know for sure=20
that Business Services is.
Call us, describe your situation, and ask for them to do it. If it=20
won't happen, let me know. Maybe we can make some arrangements.

They say they don't do this anymore, that it is a software billing
problem. How do I let you know? Thanks.

Re: Porting Timeline Questions
I have been waiting for a AT&T to sprint port since Dec 27th.
I have made several calls and waited for level 2 help.
They say the same thing very time " we will call you in 24 to 48
hours" with your port status." The call never comes. I call back and
get the same story.
Hey if its going to be another 3 weeks just say so. I'll just plan on
staying with AT&T until its done.
The need to be able to post accurate information on there website so I
can go there instead of waiting on hold for 45 minutes every time.

Re: Porting Timeline Questions
No, I can not do anything yet on the site, like download ringers or see my
content manager, but all I do is go into it directly from the phone, and
download there. Its a pain, but I guess when my billing date begins again on
the 27th, I assume it will all work.

Re: Porting Timeline Questions
Well I can now get to my content manager, on the website. It takes about 1
week after your number is ported to access the website. I hope this helps
anyone starting the process of porting from a landline to a cell phone. It
took just about a month for the whole process to be completed. I am glad i
did it. Good luck!
