On the sprintpcs home page, under personal info, what are all these
"password" options?? Must be some sort of password, which is customer
    changeable.

My question, is when I call I believe, Verizon they ask a little more,
than the acct p/w---like address, last 4 and maybe how many toes you
have on your left foot--and if you quetion them about why they are
asking, I have been told there is a law-----Is there such a law???

    Yes, that's true.

No, that's not true. It's called CYA, so that they won't get sued for
changes or requested cancellation of accounts by anybody but the account
    holder.

While it is definitely CYA, as of Dec 1 (I think) it's also, depending on
your reading of the law, required to establish identity under Ashcroft's
    little Utopia.

Not just a Nazi, but a Nazi working in a concentration camp, a camp
whose name he can't ***** correctly.

You are so sensitive to someone with a grave family crisis. Didn't you once
    work at Buchenvald?

    Re: Cannot cancel Sprint PCS

This account is old, and should not be subject to any termination fees.
Termination fees are anti-competitive, and should be illegal anyway.

The story is authentic. Your staff has been completely insensitive through
this entire process. I must now go through a major bueacratic process just
to cancel a phone. This is making a painful time far more painful, and the
rude behavior of your staff has made it worse. I am being treated like a
criminal suspect, and accused of lying. Its outrageous under the
    circumstances.

Furthermore, why is it so dammed hard to get a living, breathing person on
the line over there? Do you think your customers have nothing better to do
than sit and wait on hold for hours on end? If I lost my temper with
Sprint, there's the reason. Here I am, trying to solve what should be a
minor matter, and first you treat me like common scum by forcing me to wait
for a prolonged period on hold. Then, I am told I have to go to a Sprint
store to resolve a problem, and when I get there, I am told that I have to
call. I was thus lied to.

Why can't this matter be handled on your website? It's password protected,
so there should be no danger of fraud. It is impossible to avoid the
conclusion that Sprint is deliberately making it as difficult as possible to
    cancel an account.

The Wall Street Journal ranked Sprint as dead last among cell phone
companies. I now know exactly why. This is a horrendous way to treat your
customers. I have my own Sprint phone, but I am going to cancel it too.
You are not losing one customer, but two. This is the way companies go out
    of business.

Good luck on the job hunt.

    Re: Cannot cancel Sprint PCS

My mother only became ill in September. She was paying the bill up until
that time. It is only now that I have had time to deal with this matter,
and get the account formally cancelled.

But I guess you are too insensitve to understand complications like that.
Perhaps you should work for Sprint. They only hire the insensitive.

I provided necessary authentication, including my mom's SSN. They still
    wouldn't help me.

Its obvious that Sprint only looks out after itself. They sure don't look
    out for their customers!

You're both insensitive assholes. I am going through a major family crisis,
and Sprint has made it worse. But I do hope you get the same level of
treatment by big, soulless companies when this happens to you.

At some point in everyone's life, they will have a gravely ill
relative. You must understand, that from a business point of view,
there are MANY people out there that will claim this to gain access to
an account, or to get out of a contract. It is for this reason they
require proof of identity [and intent]. I can't stop you from blaming
Sprint PCS, but I can say that they are doing the right thing asking
for the proper documentation from you. How would you like it if
somebody called up and canceled your telephone, electrical, cellular
and also can celled all of your insurance, just because they didn't
like you. If they were allowed to do this, who would you be mad at
.... yep, the company that let them do it. ANYBODY can claim they have
a indisposed relative ... so they need proof to verify your sincerity
when working for that relative. That is indeed what "Power of
    Attorney" is for.
