Go for the 5300 or the 8100. The 1000 is junk as far as I'm concerned.
You'll be happier staying wtih Sanyo.

I generally hear very good things about it from people calling in, even=20
with problems. There is one glaring issue, though. The phone seems to=20
go into a state now and then where it thinks it's in an active data=20
session and refuses to make (or take, I think) a call. A restart fixes=20
    it.

There's a software fix due out any time now (if it's not already out) to=20
    resolve this.

No it's not out yet. I keep hearing "any time now" for weeks.

I do apologize. We've had information that it's coming since sometime=20
in December, but haven't heard an actual release date.

I'm very happy with my A620 (VGA1000) - fine reception and sound
quality. I think its received sound quality is crisper sounding than my
wife's 8100, and loud enough but not as loud as the 8100.

But the bug described below could explain why on at least 3 occasions,
my wife called me when I was not in Vision and she got the recording
"Frank Harris (in my voice) is currently busy..." and her call goes to
my voicemail. (I just tested and this is what happens when I am in
    Vision.)

I got a message notification later, and the phone didn't need a restart
to be working again later. I look forward to the firmware update.

No need to apologize, I wasn't blaming you.

Re: Samsung VGA 1000 - feedback?

Coming from an LG 5350 my VGA1000 was great! The screen was vibrant,
crisp & clear. Pictures were also great & the sound quality of the
ringers are the best I've heard! However, I'm a heavy chatter, & I
found this phone to be the worst for entering text! It doesn't
capitalize the first letter of a sentence & you have to go to page 3
of the symbols just to get commonly used punctuation! Also, after
entering text, if you want to review what you're written, you can only
see a single line of text that scrolls across the screen as opposed to
viewing the entire block of text! That drove me nuts! I too
experienced the problem where I phone was rendered useless because it
seemed to be connecting to vision.

So if you're not into texting, I think this is a great phone!

    Cheers!

What makes you think the VGA1000 is junk? I've been pretty happy with
mine, but I'm not using Vision or texting.

Re: Samsung VGA 1000 - feedback?

I made the same move from the LG to the VGA1000. I like the phone but
the problems with text have me considering jumping ship. The biggest
problem I have is with the 160 character limit to ANY text input
field. So your E-Mail has the same text limit as SMS. Not good!

Couple that with the previous comments about text and you have to
wonder if Samsung/Sprint has any human interface engineers working for
    them at all.

After all, who needs question marks and exclamation points anyway?
Anyone who needs more than 160 characters to express themselves is
    just being a windbag!
