As you all know, when you send an email from a Sprint
phone, it attaches a signature file that looks like this:

    --------------------
This message was sent from a PCS Phone from Sprint.
Get a free PCS Mail account!
Sign up via the Web Browser on your Sprint Phone
    or at http://www.sprintpcs.com.

It's called a vcard for "electronic business card" and its
    a VCF file.

Besides being obnoxiously unprofessional, some mail servers
reject or filter email with a vcard attached because of a
    security risk.

I can turn it off from the pop.sprintpcs.com or from the
imap.sprintpcs.com iPlanet mail servers' web pages under the
Options tab, then the Personal Information link unselect the
    "Attach vCard to messages" item.

When I send email from the iPlanet web site with the vcard
turned on, it sends the text of the email as a .DAT file and
the vcard as a .VCF file (which was unreadable in my Opera
browser until I set the MIME type to "text/x-vcard" and file
extension to "vcf"). With the vcard turned off, the message
is sent as ASCII text and readable in any email client.

However...I cannot turn it off when using my Sanyo 8100. Even
after setting the vcard off from the iPlanet server website
AND from the phone, the vcard is still sent whenever I send
    email from the phone.

On the phone, its under Email > Settings > VCard > Off/On.
After I save the settings and hit Done from the Main menu
and go back to vcard, its stil turned on.

I'm not surprised that Vision tech support had any clue what
I was talking about, but they escalated it with a trouble
    ticket.

Anyone have any other ideas on this?

"What was I thinking...?" <-- some county and western song

I solved it all by writing a quickie web-mail page to access
    my own mail server.

    "Done...!" <-- Nextel
