Thats what these deals usally start out saying but it rarely works out
so simply. I have seen such transfers at NASA when contractors change,
and many heads roll, or are offered lower paying positions.

Yes, I saw that --- someplace. Also read two stories of interest in
off-shore. The first is that the feds by law cannot outsource their stuff
off-shore, and the India government is calling foul on the practice, and
have begun lobbying the appropriate folks in this county. The work
represents about 2 percent of all work needed to support the overall
American market.
The second story deals with how the tax laws of India are structured to
promote in-sourcing, and they're pretty narrow in what can be done on the
reduced services tax rate. Some companies, apparently, have been using the
India call centers to up-sell (and in some cases sell outright). The
argument goes that the Indian government says that selling 'whatever' puts a
company in a higher, marketing tax bracket --- one that makes off-shore work
far less attractive in regards to profit. The lobbying, obviously, is going
towards India's direction on this.
Below is a letter from Earthlink that was received on my enquiry about
off-shore outsourcing --- I needed an ISP, but refuse to do business with
companies that outsource off-shore.

As far as your question about spilling what I know about a certain bloke
who frequents this NG --- I shouldn't have said what I said (not that I
didn't mean it, mind you) as I used contacts that perhaps shouldn't have
been so helpful with my request. I will say that information gleaned from
this group was instrumental in the mission, if you know what I mean. He
left a pretty good clue on his location (Wed) tonight (it's not where he
says when talking SPCS issues). We'll have fun with it on down the road ----
likely after April.

Do what now? The Dems are the only one contesting thier party, so that's all
there is for the media to cover.
And I've come to believe / learn that the media in general are driven by
editors who are eyeing the profit line and lazy reporters --- and as such
pretty well work with what's given to them. This is a departure, of course,
to reporters actually going out to report.

Hate to agree with Robert M., but he's likely right that Bush's will also be
able to share the one-term tag with his Dad.

With all due respect to India, their whiny government minions can kiss my
red, white, and blue American ass.
I am not flat-out against buying from foreign companies... especially when,
as is so common with cars, American workers also benefit from the sale (like
the Honda USA employees who work in the two plants in my home state).
I'm sure someone over there is screaming "Protectionism!" But our economy is
already in the crapper without US programmers losing jobs to people there or
even to people here who might be here on questionable H-1B visas. With the
country in the financial situation it's in I'm a little more anal about
insisting people I work with buy American. And finally, if the situation was
reversed, do you think for a second that India wouldn't be trying to protect
their own citizens?
