NEW YORK—Sprint Corp. told industry analysts at an investor conference
that the company planned to sit out the merger mania currently
sweeping the wireless industry, noting the company would instead focus
its wireless operations on growing relationships with wholesale
partners and closer integration with Sprint's wireline operations.

"We're very committed to running this business on our own," said
Sprint President and Chief Operating Officer Len Lauer.

Sprint's chief executive officer, Gary Forsee, added that the company
expects to see benefits from customer uncertainty surrounding its
    competitors and potential merger activity.

Analysts have noted that a potential merger between Cingular Wireless
L.L.C. and AT&T Wireless Services Inc. could cause a reaction from
Verizon Wireless, including the possible acquisition of Sprint PCS.

Not surprising, considering that SPCS has the second highest
Average Revenue Per User, and the second lowest churn rate.
Sounds like the winning combination to me.

Good, because I can't see anyone other than Verizon or Alltel making sense,
and Verizon isn't going to be buying, and I doubt Alltel is either.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if someday Verizon did acquire Sprint.
Not now but certainly in the future this will occur

Running it into the ground that is. A growth rate almost as low as
AT&T's, a continued unprofitability, Customer Service that is
continually ranked worst in the industry, which is met by reduced
    spending on Customer Service.

Oh, I doubt that. There might be one merger allowed with regards to ATTWS,
but I don't believe the FCC would allow any less than 5 major providers.

Besides, Sprint's coverage duplicates Verizon's in many places, and in some
places, Verizon's is better. There are certain places where Sprint does
significantly better than Verizon, but would it be worth them buying the whole
    company?

    Oh, great.
As if Verizon needs one *more* fragmentation of their system
that works differently, depending on which part of the country we're in.
SPCS is the only carrier that comes even close to being consistent.

Actually, they have the third lowest churn (Nextel and Verizon beat them
out), but they are certainly getting their house in order. I remember
reading something within the last couple of months that stated the only way
SPCS could be touched is by buying the entire Sprint operation- not too many
are going to want to do that.

I don't have the reference at the moment, but a story in the
Wall Street Journal this week put SPCS second to Verizon
for the very latest churn-rate numbers.
I believe the same article had Nextel at a close third,
so we aren't talking about a large difference.

Better check that source- Nextel has had the lowest churn in the industry
for a year now, Verizon a close second, and Sprint almost a 1.5% higher (it
works out to roughly 80% higher).

Yeah- they are almost as bad as the moronic, full-of-****, lying, whiney,
stupid, uniformed, clueless, frightened, chicken **** trolls.

There's your mirror, Phil- have fun. Jerk off.
