I don't know the exact numbers off hand for the software,but I'm 99%
sure there have been no software updates for either of those phones.

THe current PRL for those two (and all of Sprint's current lineup) is
10023.

There have been reports of one REAL SOON NOW for the RL2500 to add SMS
capability.

No need to buy rumors. Access your phone's main menu. Select=20
Messaging. See Shortmail there? (for these two phone, yes). Then=20
you always will. And not SMS.
