With Sprint PCS losing so much money that its stock is being folded back
into the stock of its Parent Sprint, and with the wireline people losing
market share, Forsee (the CEO) gets rewarded withan almost $13 million
bonus.
His annual salarey is $813,410.
Any Sprint employees reading this get a bonus of 15 times a years salary
for 2003?

They've only been at for 7 years now. Same ole story where Phillipe forgets
that SPCS is still building out their system. What's more, they aren't
"losing so much money".
SPCS is projected to start making positive revenue by 1st quarter 2005. As
for folding the stock in place, they've said on numerous times while they
are doing it ... As to losing wireline share, they have never had much
wireline business. Their main forte outside of wireless is LD and high speed
data ...

Hey, that's only $7000/hr. I don't know how anybody can live on anything
less. Most CEOs get over $15,000/hr.

A billion here, a billion there and soon you're talking real money.

That's nothing to what Steve Jobs made last year from apple or even what
Michael Eisner made send he joined Disney (over $1 billion).

The orlando Sentinal Had him as the top paid exec at several hundred million
last year (this was last week). I don't have the link and really don't care
about loking it up. It may be on their web site.

Re: Another Corporate Disgrace
Well, IMO, it is a disgrace that execs get paid that much money
when the corporations are laying off people and making them work
in cramped quarters, cutting back on benefits, etc. What sane
person couldn't live very well on a mere $1 million/yr? With that
$15 million bonus you could keep 200 or more people on the payroll
earning ~$50,000 each (counting in the cost of benefits, cost of
real estate, etc) and give your customers better products and
services.
The main thing that keeps capitalism sane is a balance of power
between capital and labor, a give-and-take, to find a happy
medium. Excluding the public sector (government employees) fewer
than 5% of American workers now belong to a labor union. This does
not bode well for the American worker (or worker in any capitalist
society where the balance-of-power is skewed radically towards
capital).
People in the US are like the proverbial frog sitting in water
that gets hotter very gradually. Frog doesn't know it's being
boiled alive because it happens so gradually.

Not only that, but while Phillippe makes it seem that Sprint is bumbling
in the wireline sector, the truth us that nearly ALL ILECs are losing
market share. The heyday was in the miid-90s when people were buying
multiple phone lines for dial-up service, faxes and as additional voice
capacity. Now, broadband data and wireless have reduced that need, so
all wireline companies are seeing reductions in the number of lines in
service.
But where's all that market share going? Well, wireless and data...
where Sprint also has a good footing.

So if another ILEC is losing market share, that makes Sprint good?

Why did you change the name when you quoted Isaiah?

No, it just makes the wireline results rather meaningless. Everyone is
giving away the farm. Here in Southern Cali, both SBC and Verizon are offering
their respective unlimited local/long-distance plans, in some markets even
for business customers who normally spend a lot more. Sprint, ATT and MCI all
have similar offerings. No one is making money on POTS anymore.
Calling Sprint wireline "good" is a stretch. Having had to deal with ILECs on a
regular basis for years, I can say that they all suck in equal amounts.
Even some of the wireline CLECs that used to be very customer-responsive (XO
in particular; I don't even want to go into detail about my problems with
them) now suck horribly.

Re: Another Corporate Disgrace
Very True! I have Sprint :LTD, Sprint LDD, Sprint PCS and Sprint
Fastconnect DSL. For those that don't know! LTD is the landline service,
LDD is the long distance division the rest I am sure everyone can figure it
out. Sprint profits are larger and larger every year. As one division goes
up or down so does another one and it all balances out.
