Blind Sprint apologists still can;t accept that SprintPCS Customwer
Service is the worst, and insult anyone who reminds them of that fact.

But why have to get a third party involved. If SprintPCS doesnt get your
money first there's never a need to wait on hold with a credit card's
    rep in India.

You remove your card and Sprint would likely bill you for $50.

Different credit card companies are different with how easy or hard it
is to request a chargeback. Some are great, some are horrid, and most
    are in between.

Chargeback procedures are clearly *****ed out in the agreement for every
credit card issued in the United States. Follow the procedure and there
    isn't a problem.

That's not really an issue when you have them charge the auto-payment
to a credit card. That gives you about 30 days to get a mistake corrected,
and if all else fails, you can contest it with the credit card bank. I've never
had a problem with auto-payment, as long as you restrict it to reputable
companies. If you mail a check, they can always claim it arrived late,
and sock you with a late fee.

How much do you really think autopay would save Sprint? I would
guesstimate the $50/24 or about $2 a month sounds reasonable so they are
compensating you. I pay them directly from thier web site monthly or
through an electronic bill through checkfree and I believe I elected to
not recieve a paper bill at all from Sprint. I assume they save just as
much money with me going that route and I don't get squat for a discount
but it is very convienient for me.

I do not think this subject deserves a BEWARE at all, companies giving
incentives to make thier bill processing cheaper and more consistant is
nothing new. I choose not to use automated payments for anything that
fluctuates, like an electric bill or cell/home phone bill, but I do you
it for my cable, usenet service and many others that are constant every
month. People can make an educated decision based on thier needs which
may be different then yours. Your use of beware in all caps sounds
like someone from the late 70's and early 80's raising an issue with
those new fangled ATM cards not requiring a signature in your savings
passbook from a live teller when you remove money or someone refusing to
use direct deposit because they are afraid of not having a physical
    paycheck in hand.

It certainly does. Why risk extra grief in the event of a billing

It's quite sad that you have to direct this much energy and negative
    emotions over a Usenet group.

While I will admit, you do, occasionally, post helpful information,
the vast majority of your posts are just complaints.

But the amount of energy you're directing here is a waste. There are
much larger issues you could complain about.

    - Write your congressman complaining about jobs being shipped overseas
    - Complain about your stance (or lack there of) abot the situation in
    Iraq
    - That we haven't captured Bin Laden yet
    - Minimum wage laws
    - The desperate need for health care reform (and don't do what Hillary
did and only invite lawyers, invite some doctors)
    - The national deficit (sp?)
    - Poor public education
    - How easily Al-Qaida or some other fanatical group could get a WMD
    into this country, illegally.

(And before you ask, yes, I have written my state's govenor &
congressmen, along with my national "representatives".

Sorry you don't know the Sprint promotions.

Sprint pays you a $50 bonus for signing up for autopay and 2 years. What
do yoiu think will happen if you remove yourself from autopay before the
    2 years are up???

No, it pays that for autopay and a 2 year advantage agreement. Once=20
you sign up, the assumption is that you're unlikely to remove it.

There is no charge for removing autopay.

If they did add the $50 back, they would be well within their rights for
    breach of contract.

I called up sprint and they said they had no such plan. I tried again and
no luck. The third time they sent me to some tother department and still no
one knew of any such promotion.
