I'm really getting mad about the SMS messaging. Half the time the messages
don't even go through. About 15 min later I end up calling the person and
they say they didn't even get it. I know it's not just my phone because
others have sent them to me and I don't get all of them either. I think
Sprint should have really tested this SMS before rolling it out to every one
and taking the old Short mail off of the phone. I think stupid things like
this makes Sprint PCS look bad. Also your supposed to be able to Ready Link
with a push of a button and half the time it doesn't even connect and when
you start talking it disconnects and says try again. I just needed to get
this off my chest sorry for blowing up like this.

I never saw an official rollout announcement.

Neither did I... I learned about it via seeing some flyers for it at
Radio Shack. It's official enough I guess, but not technically a
    "rollout announcement".

I'm in the Kansas City market and have used it quite a bit, and as far
as I know I've only experienced one dropped message. It was sent from
my VM4500 to a T-Mobile customer. Another message sent shortly after
the failed one went through though. I usually send about 15-20
messages per day. Hope you have better luck in the future.

It's quite a testimony to the problms of SMS if one has to rely on luck. And
that is likely why SMS hasn't even been officially announced or promoted.

No its not. Ever heard of a soft launch? This is not the first offering
from a cellular provider to be introduced with no advertising.

Although I've been able to use the SMS since early February just today I got
a message from Sprint about the feature. OK--who was asleep at what wheel?

I don't think it's been officially rolled out yet. Otherwise you'd have heard
    something.

I don't know whether it's so big a deal to do a special announcement. SPCS
does have a web page for it. Don't know how long it's been up.

It would help if we knew where the SMS is going to. I've been SMS'ing
domestically to Sprint PCS and Cingular users without problems.

Are you sending SMS messages inside to other Sprint users, or to other
networks? Are the messages going within the US? Are they to ported
    numbers? Any little detail helps.
