    Hello again,

A few months ago someone brought up the topic of being offered a 5%
discount when calling into Sprint PCS customer service. They mentioned
that in order for them to qualify for it, that they had to re-up their
    contract for another two years.

I had a similar experience back in November 2003 when I called into
Sprint to get my 7PM Night and Weekend calling fixed again (7PM calling
was working on the primary phone only, in a multi phone plan, they fixed
it, again...). They told me before ending my call that I qualified for a
5% discount on my total bill. I carefully asked if there were any
strings attached and the nice lady assured me that there were none.

I brought this fact up here on alt.cellular.sprintpcs and was told by
the fine folks to wait until I got my next bill to verify that I was
indeed getting the discount and that my contract had not been renewed.

I waited until February 2004 to investigate my bill as it had only
gone down about 7 cents from its usual amount starting in December 2003,
not the whopping 5% I was hoping for. ;-) My contract expiration date
had not changed, so I called Sprint PCS to investigate.

The first person I spoke with at Sprint PCS told me that I indeed
qualified for the 5% discount, but only on one of the phones in my
    Add-a-Phone plan.

Of course, the 5% discount was not applied to my primary phone, where
the bulk of the monthly fee is attached, but on one of the secondary
phones that you get charged a dollar and change for each month. So every
month, I was saving 5% off of a little more than a dollar. Not exactly
the discount I was looking or hoping for.

I asked her if she could just apply the 5% discount to the whole
account, or every phone, as I was promised in November. She assured me
that only the recently (May 2003) purchased and added phone qualified
for the discount, and definitely not the primary phone I've had for years.

I tried to debate the logic with her, but I could tell ignorance was
winning out. Something seemed fishy about this, and it smelled of error,
but it seemed completely logical to her. So I thanked her, and attempted
    to hang up.

She pleaded for me to take a two month trial of Sprint PCS Voice
Command, but I somehow couldn't explain to this extremely logical and
brilliant person that my Sanyo phone had voice dialing built-in and that
I didn't need Voice Command, so I just hung up. (She did add it to the
5% discount phone, without my authorization, BTW. I found out about this
    later.)

I sat for a moment and decided to roll the dice and call Sprint right
back. I spoke with a new gentlemen this time and explained the situation
differently. I told him that, back in November 2003, I was told by
Sprint PCS that I qualified for a 5% discount, and that Sprint had made
a mistake back in November and had only applied the discount to one
phone in my plan, not the entire account.

Withing 60 seconds, he had corrected the mistake, applied the discount
to the entire account, and had even credited me for the three months
that I should have been getting a discount for.

What a change from the CSR before, that steadfastly told me that there
was nothing she could do about it, and that 7 cents was all I would be
    getting.

I just wanted to tell all of you, that in the end, I did get my 5%
discount, without having to re-up my contract. It just took a little bit
of hassle and a lot of luck.

    Best to you all,

    Rob

Correct. Because the longer you wait with an error like that on your
account, the more difficult it will be to fix the problem.

Some carriers (I don't know if Sprint is included) have a clause in
their Terms and Agreements that if they make a mistake in your change
your plan, or if they add a new fee or tax, and you pay a billing cycle
after they made that change, then you automatically *agree* to the
changes. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.

    Eric

And every company tells their employees this information. This will not be
    news to them.

Using different names in the same thread again? Very childish.
