Just took a quick phone call to the dedicated sales rep for my company
at SprintPCS in my case; none of this "in person" stuff.

Show me a post where anyone said it was hard to get. There are none, and
you have regained your title as most clueless poster here.

This is not policy. Knight-Ridder gets 15% off and Ford gets 25% off and
have never been asked to prove anything to get the discount. All you have to
do is call the business customer care and give them the info they request
that I stated earlier and your in. This wasn't done just once. I've done it
over 20 times in the past 2 years for people I know at both companies.

Based on all of this one would assume that you sell Sprint service. I say
    so because of the following:

    - The original customer can call on their own, according to you.
    - If you were just a customer, you would have no more pull with Sprint than
    the original customer.

If you are indeed in sales, then the customer did contact a Sprint agent,
and you have done the employment verification. Sprint would assume that you,
as an agent, have followed policy.

Nope don't work or sell for Sprint PCS. Look at my e-mail address, all my
friends and the people I work with come to me for help with the cell phone
needs. If people trust you they will give up the info needed. All they gotta
do is write it down for me when I make the call and then they discard the
    info when I'm done.

The email address doesn't prove a thing. Employees post their sprintpcs.com
email address here all the time.

    Re: Get an Extra Discount

Despite what some blind SprintPCS apologists have hinted at, nowhere
did I ever suggest that someone should ask for a discount they are not
entitled to. What often happens is that SprintPCS grants these discounts
to all employees as part of selling a batch of cell phones to
Maintainence or Administrative staff that the company pays for. Other
employees (staff, professionals, blue-collar) while having to pay their
own way for their cell phones, are entitled to these discounts, and in
my experience it's not something that most folks are aware of.

I don't understand why these SprintPCS apologists act like anyone is
stealing from Sprint by publicizing this info. Likely employees would be
far more likely to go with SprintPCS rather than one of the other top 5
carriers if they factored these discounts into their costs for cellular
service. I believe it helps SprintPCS to have this information not be so
    secret.

Also some firms' employees may be eligible for discounts from more than
one carrier. I am personally aware of one organization whose employees
can get a discount from either SprintPCS or Cingular (IF THEY ASK).

Even an average $60 plan with a minimal 10% discount adds up to
    $72 / year.

Funny, because in my experience with a good number of the companies listed,
these are clearly explained and advertised to employees as part of their
    company benefits package.

One of the discounts says "Chevron Credit Card 25%"

Does this mean that if I have a Chevron credit card I can get an additional
25% discount or that I have to work for Chevron's credit department?

It can be done. All one has to do is search on Google for this stuff.
There are web sites with masterlock codes and which phones go between
    verizon and sprint.

Also, if you said that youdon't always need to do these things inperson, why
do others always have to bash. I believe you. I used to work in sales back
in college and we didn't give a crap about the company.

Why am I not surprised by this statement? It does point out not only his
'holier than thou' attitude, but it also shows that the 'me first at the
expense of everyone else' attitude lives strong in today's society. He and
    Phil make a great pair.
