    Aww... You kids...

You beat him up a little on the 8200/7300 flash issue too, so don't act
    like it was just him.

I know you two enjoy it.

    Only by your definition.

I just firmly believe advertised plans would serve SprintPCS better as
    it attempts to retain customers.

Of course a total revamp of its billing and CSR procedures would also
    help.

As we've established that the plans are unpublished, and we've
established that unpublished does not mean secret, I would say that we
have. I have a supporting url:

I would be interested in knowing (no idea if such a study exists) the
number of people that take the trouble to get rate plan sheets or look
online or at other print and tv media versus just calling customer
service when it's time to change plans.

No you defined it as such. I respectfully disagree.

Some of us check this newsgroup. Thats how I first discovered retention
    and a 650 minutes/ $36 plan.

    Maybe this posting:

    From: Steven Scharf ([email protected])
Subject: Re: how to get a retention plains
    Newsgroups: alt.cellular.sprintpcs
    Date: 2002-07-10 11:04:56 PST

The one that is mentioned the most is the $36, 650 anytime
    minutes (500 anytime + 150 additional), 500 PCS-PCS
    minutes, 3000 NW minutes (1000 + 2000 additional), 8:00
p.m. off-peak, no FIFM, no wireless web, and 1 year contract.
No one has mentioned whether or not it includes long distance
(it may depend on the current plan you have, i.e. a retention
on Free and Clear will get you long distance, while a retention
on the local plan will not). This is a heck of a deal!

Of course there is no public official list of retention plans
anywhere. You can easily search Usenet using Google Groups
advanced search in the alt.cellular.sprintpcs newsgroup and
find out what other people claim to be getting.

As to how to get it, you call up and make noises about leaving
due to the price, about how your friends got better plans, etc.,
and be prepared to haggle, and be prepared to really leave if
they don't come through with something acceptable. Don't
explicitly mention the words "retention plan."

The rates on the Sprint retention plans are awesome. Even if
you occasionally have to pay for roaming on Verizon CDMA
or on an analog system, with these rates Sprint has a
compelling advantage over AT&T and Verizon. I guess that
they feel that it's better to keep a customer, albeit at a lower
rate, than having the customer go to the competition. As long
as the retention plans are not widely known about then this
approach will work. Probably less than 0.001% of SPCS
subscribers read this newsgroup, and no newspaper, radio
or TV station would dare risk losing Sprint ad revenue by
writing or airing a story about retention plans.

The downside of Sprint's strategy is that their regular rates
are higher than the competition, so how can they attract
    new customers?

I would say that others defined it as such, but if you wish to maintain
a position so untenable as to require redefining a common english word,
I can only admit to being disappointed.

Yes me, too. Folks here know about Retention, the rest of the free world
    doesn't. It's a secret.

"A secret?" Honestly, that's beneath you. Not your best work.

Ever consider an evangelical journey educating the aboriginal peoples of

When some Jehovah's Witnesses rang my door bell and told me Jesus wants
me to hear the Bible passages they wanted to read with me, I reminded
them that Bin Laden also thinks he speaks for God.
