How is it strawman? It doesn't affect your current plan. It doesn't
affect the cost of your phone, you already own it. It doesn't affect
your contract in any way what-so-ever. In 18 months you are NOT
required to buy a new phone. It is your business if you want to. If
you do want to, you pay the price for the phone they are offering at
that time. It may include a rebate or it may not. No price has been
increased for you at this time or any time in the future unless YOU
DECIDE TO BUY A NEW PHONE ... and only then if you don't get a rebate
that you so desparately want will that make any difference.

I just recieved a 17% discount from Sprint because of my employer, so
that is enough to keep me on Vision for 18 months

A Sprint employee (who is a frequent poster in this newsgroup) adamantly
maintains that if you cancel Vision after the free trial, you will be ineligible
for the next Vision handset upgrade rebate. I haven't seen this policy
in writing anywhere on Sprint's website.

Well, Rob may be mistaken, as you have confirmed, it doesn't say word one
about having to maintain Vision ... only that one has to sign up for it.

Just thought of one more possibility, and that SPCS might of changed their
marketing tact after Rob was trained and just decided all that was necessary
was to sign up for Vision, and not to keep it for 18 months.

Bob, I'm just trying to get the facts straight. My next handset upgrade
eligibility date is coming up in 10 months, so excuse me if I'm getting a
    little anxious.
O/Siris, a knowledgeable Sprint employee, has stated repeatedly in this
newsgroup that in order to qualify for the next Vision handset upgrade rebate,
one must have subscribed continuously to a Vision pack. So, don't challenge
*me*, I'm just repeating the policy that O/Siris posted.

Which would make *so much more* sense - the two month trial still gives
Sprint the opportunity to try to sell you Vision, but doesn't obligate you
to any long-term commitment and doesn't cost you extra money unless you want
to pay the extra money. A win-win situation.

My paper rebate form from Radio Shack states otherwise. It not only
says that you have to add Vision to your plan, but you have to keep it
    there for 18 months.

What's the date on that receipt/rebate? Like I said, it could be that SPCS
changed their mind on marketing the rebates since Rob was trained on it.

I cannot find my rebate form at the moment, but I do remember it saying
that the offers were good until mid May. I'll post later tonight with
the exact details when I locate the form.

The form, by the way, was not exclusive to Radio Shack. It was an
official Sprint PCS rebate form that I also saw at Best Buy.

If you're so sure of that, I'd like to see a link from SprintPCS

Rep told me that as soon as I get the rebate, call and cancel Vision.

Apparently the Vision requirement occurs when Vision is necessary to get
your plan above the $34.99 plan minimum requirement for a rebate.
    Otherwise canceling will slide by.
