They need to open their Victorville store. Was supposed to open in March,
then pushed back to May, but now I'm not sure when it'll open. Next closest
store is Rancho Cucamonga, about 30 miles south. The people at that store
can only tell me "sometime before the end of the year."

I thought Sprint lost service North of Ventura. And I had to buy 50 analog
minutes for $10.
Seems there is some service on California 101, but not California Highway 1.

Alesandra, SPCS offers something better now that the roaming option you
mentioned above. $5/mo. for F&CA, which allows one to use up to 50%of the
minutes used during a billing cycle while roaming.

That is not correct. Sprint has had coverage North of Ventura for a
couple of years now although there still may be a weak spot or two.
Sprint coverage in Santa Barbara itself is actually pretty good now
and they are selling phones and service there. They also have coverage
in Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo and along most of 101 to the bay area.
I did get a signal along some parts of Hwy 1 in San Luis Obispo.
