    Hi!
I've had the strangest experience with this phone. I was traveling
up this driveway when I seen a big box turtle. I jumped out to take a
picture of the turtle with this phone (Sanyo SCP-5300). I took this
shot and walked back to the truck. I tried to view the picture I just
took, but it wasn't there. I figured maybe I had too many pictures on
the phone so I deleted them all. I went back to take another picture,
    but the turtle was gone.
I used my phone to take other pictures of other things and when I
came back, this same driveway, there was the turtle again! Grabbed
the phone and tried to take some more pictures of the turtle. It
didn't work. The turtle was very cooperative. In high or mid
resolution mode, I could NOT make the camera take a picture of this
turtle. It looked like everything worked, but the preview would go to
the last picture I took. I turned the phone off and on, tried it
again, still didn't work. I took 2 shots in low res mode, which
worked. It wouldn't work in MED or HIGH. I took pictures up the
driveway, of the truck, they worked, but if the turtle was in the
picture, it wouldn't take. No errors or anything, just something
unique, I guess a bug in the picture compression, that wouldn't save
the picture. Has anyone had any problems taking pictures, maybe of
    orange objects?
    Thanks!
    Harry

I've had a 5300, when they first came out, and haven't experienced any of
the problems you mentioned. Maybe it's time to take it to your local SPCS
    store and get it tested?

    Re: Sanyo SCP-5300 box turtle

I have had a similar experience ONCE.... with this same camera!
    But look at this scenario

It was evening.. I took one picture... GREAT well not really, It was a
little dark, so I turned flash on AND changed angle....
Next picture ... totally empty screen.. NOT black... like blueish tint...

I was in hurry and chalked in up to one of the following:
    1) I was using flash
    -or-
    2) It was twilight

    AND
the sunlight and/or flash bounce faked the electronic eye a combination of
    my finder position!

Camera was fine before and after that!

To be on the safe side, I would follow Bob's advice, and have it checked
    out!!

One other item to factor in my situation. I had just taken the camera from a
cool air-conditioned car (I keep it @ 70) to a HOT muggy 87 degrees) Maybe
    condensation was a factor

    Re: Sanyo SCP-5300 box turtle

I experianced the exact same thing once while trying to take a picture of a
plant. Only time that it ever happened with the 5300. I've heard of it
from others too, must just be something the 5300's camera does with certain
    combinations of colors.
