Is there any way to add plus signs when using a phone that supports
Sprint SMS (Sanyo 4920 in my case) to send international SMS? Any way
to store those in the phone book (even thou they can't be call if
    they're not US / Canada)?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Re: Sending international SMS

It is not the absence of the plus symbol that stops international SMS's.
Sprint doesn't have the agreements in place and has not created the
necessary "glue" to connect their SMSs to the GSM network. You cannot send
SMS's from your Sprint web account. I

You can dial international numbers with a Sprint phone. You have to call
customer service and activate international dialing. Then dial the number
    with an "011" in front, e.g. 011442075551212.

Not true. *If* the international SMS works, there is neither a need to=20
email nor a need for the plus sign.

So far, though, as of the time I ceased working there, not a single=20
European nation was listed as confirmed successful.

Could you tell if there was an effort to make this a future thing? I
wonder if the previous lack of much international roaming agreements
like US GSM carriers have, was the reason for the minimal
international SMS sending support. Or perhaps they don't think there's
much of a market for Sprint's CDMA users since the users who are more
international are probably using GSM? These are some generalizations,
but I have a few friends who are international and SMS would be nice.

The note included a reference to future testing. Europe is=20
pretty heavily standardized (which is not saying that's a=20
bad thing), so it's probably going to be all or nothing=20
there. This appeared to be one of those "as we get to it"=20
kind of projects. Unsupported. Might find a way to make=20
it work, but it will either work or not, and that's it.

    Re: Sending international SMS

It looks like sending to some international carriers is now officially
    supported according to Sprint's website:

    Argentina Movicom (BellSouth)
    Bermuda Bermuda Digital
    Canada Bell Mobility
    Microcell Telecommunications
    Rogers AT&T
    Telus Mobility
    Saskatchewan Telecom (Sasktel)
    MTS Communications
    Chile BellSouth Comunicaciones
    China China Mobile
    Colombia BellSouth Colombia
    Dominican Republic CODETEL
    Ecuador BellSouth Ecuador
    Guam Hafatel
    Guatemala BellSouth Guatemala
    Hong Kong Sunday
    Peoples
    Mexico Iusacell
    Telefonica Mexico
    Nextel Mexico
    Panama BellSouth de Panama
    Peru BellSouth Peru
    TIM Peru
    Telefonica Peru
    Nextel Peru
    Philippines Globe
    Smart
    Saipan Verizon Pacifica
    UK T-Mobile UK
    Uruguay Movicom (BellSouth)
    Venezuela Telcel (BellSouth)
    Movilnet

Disappointing that only T-Mobile UK for western europe.

    Re: Sending international SMS

Actually according to this web page, these countries are supported. However,
I tried the Venezuelan ones and no luck. I called and the woman that i
talked to was shocked to see that this info was on the web site. So bottom
line, they say it is officially supported but it doesn;t work.
