I just switched to Sprint from Cellular One. I've had it for about 3 weeks
now and I must say I like it. I have not had one dropped call, my voice
mail comes right through. Sprints Vision is great, I had internet with
cellular one and it doesn't even come close to sprint. I got the Sayno
PM-8200 phone and its much better then the phone that I got from cell one.
Plus this one was free! Didn't think I'd need a camera phone but see I'm
using it more and more. Still have to figure somethings out on the phone.

I have one question about it. If I get a data cable can I hook that up to
my laptop and use the internet that way?
    Thanks
    Tom

Officially, connecting to the web tethering your phone to your laptop, is
not included in your Unlimited Vision option on your account. Unofficially,
yes, you can. You will to get the cable and will also need to get the
drivers on your phone to create a new dial up on your laptop.

Vision was not intended to replace your regular ISP service at the price
they offer for that option, and it you over do it, SPCS will notice and
charge you $0.01/kb down or uploaded through Vision, while connected to your
    laptop.

My condolances on the switch to Sprint.

    >now and I must say I like it. I have not had one dropped call, my voice

Yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back for us. I've had
problems from day 1 with signals and such, everyone here kept saying
it was my phone (Samsung A460). Was just about to say ok, I'll give
it a shot and try a new phone and stay with Sprint for another year.

Yesterday, the phones at the office were out due to a power failure at
US-Lec's switch. We went to cell phones for tech support. Three
different Sprint customers in our office, three different phones. Not
ONE of us could make a call from inside the building, and outside the
building, not one of us could keep a call connected. Oh, 5 bars, but
signal kept fading after a minute or so on the call. The AT&T and
Cingular phones worked fine, in and out of the office. We were in
Orange Park, in a very urban part of town.

    I've had it with Sprint.

There are many unique situations why one would find it necessary to leave
    SPRINT....
And I don't want to be an 'apologist' for Sprint....
But let me make comments on your experience for others sake....

That day your power went out@ US-Lec's switch.
    A) The power outage COULD have been more pervasive catching SPRINT, too!
    B) That location could have contained a circuit that SPRINT needed for a
    local downlink
    C) SPRINT could have been the only 'game in town' and was overloaded.
    D) The ATT and CINGULAR folks towers were in different locations...

A judgment on a company should be made on how it performs day-to-day in the
situations you need it in, with CURRENT equipment, under normal
circumstances. That's part of the 14-day trial period.

Finally, the $5 Free and Clear America add-on is great for instances where
you do get in a signal 'hole'

Deb has made it clear that she's had lots of problems. I would leave Sprint if
my situation was similar to hers.

And, day to day, I have had the problems for 3 years or so now, that
location included. It was only on Friday that we had a reason for all
of us to be using it at once.

Not if you can't get a signal, or keep one while the call is being
    made.

If you can't get a Sprint signal, F&CA does help if another carrier's local
network is in the Preferred Roaming List on your phone because otherwise, you'd
be paying per minute for roaming (whereas with F&CA it doesn't cost extra).

As of yesterday, I did. I have switched over to Cingular. On Monday,
I will call and get the number port started.

Today, we have been to Live Oak for a function this morning, and to
the Jags game this afternoon in Jax.

Since both accounts are currently active, I had the Sprint phones and
the phones "up", checking signal strength out I-10 west to Live Oak
back to the stadium in Jax.

In Live Oak, all phones were on at best weak signal, Cingular at 1 or
2 bars, the Sprint phones searching for signal (actually, between Live
Oak and Lake City at our diocesan conference center), not surprising
since I don't think *anyone* has a tower out in that area.

At the stadium in Jax, section 410, no signal on any of the Sprint
phones in our section (others near us got into the "game" and started
pulling their phones out too and checking signal strength). Nextel
and Sprint, no signal. AT&T and Cingular - 5 bars.

All day, the only dead spots I had with the Cingular phones were the
one mentioned above at the conference center, and on I10 in the
Olustee National Park area (again, nobody I know, on any service can
or has ever been able to get a signal there, just no towers, I guess)

On Sprint, the usual dead spots, even when Cingular showing 5 bars.

I am aware of that information, that's why I sent to FC&A awhile back,
since I travel so much and wound up in roaming so often.

My point was that even the FC&A plan does not do you any good if you
    can't get *any* signal.

It is common sense that before the 14 day trial period is over, you
must try the phone at locations where it is essential for you to have
coverage. RF being what it is, you can not expect all cellular service
providers to have identical coverage at every location.

Again, this is something you should have checked out during the 14
day trial period, or you should have asked people who travel that area
for recommendations. Different providers have different coverage areas.
