I have a Treo 600, about 2 weeks ago a small orange squiggle showed up
on the screen in the position of where the "hangup all" icon appears.
The squiggle appears to be getting bigger...not in width but in
length. I have not had time to take it to the Sprint store yet but
will soon. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this and if
there is any way to get rid of it on my own. It looks like it was
    drawn on with a stylus.
Thanks for any help or insight.

I guess from the lack of any response no one has come across this. In
case it happens to anyone else, this is what I found out from the
Sprint tech. When I showed it to them the tech said he had seen it
once before...it was screen bleed over. He said it would have
continued to get larger and did not really know why it happened with
that distinctive "man made" look squiggle. They immediatly replaced
the entire unit without question and I was on my way in 20 minutes. A
very nice transaction with a company that had a bad rep. with customer
    service

These kinds of moments are why I've defended the SPCS=20
system. The tools and options are in place to enable=20
Sprint workers to create a truly customer-centric=20
experience. Where Sprint has fallen down is in being less=20
than eager to train employees in those tools and how to=20
    utilize them.

I'm glad Sprint PCS helped you out & quickly replaced your phone.

Not to take any credit away from Sprint Customer Service, but I expect
*PART* of the reason you were out of there quickly with a replacement phone
& not undergoing the third-degree about whether you somehow abused the
broken one is because of the large amount of problems the Treo 600s have
    had.

I'm on my third one in less than a year. After the first one went bad, I
had to convince the tech that it did so without any negligence on my part.

By the time the second one went bad (again, all on it's own...), the
customer service person swapped it out without asking me many questions, and
even volunteered that the Treo 600 was the most problematic phone Sprint
    sold.

I guess I must have been lucky. I've got my original Treo 600 that I
purchased in February. Nary a problem.

I'm sorry you have had so many problems with this model...very sorry.
I know you put out a few bucks for this and I hope this is not a
glimpse of the future for mine. May I ask what problems you have had?

May I ask what problems you have had?

After about 2 months usage, my first Treo 600 would sometimes show a full
signal strength, but as soon as I'd try to make a call, the signal strength
would go down to nothing & it'd say that I had no connection to the network.
This issue would last for anywhere from an hour or two to several days in a
row, and would happen at any time of the day & night, and in any location.
I'm pretty sure the problem was my phone, and not the Sprint network, as
it'd occur while I'd be around friend who also had Sprint PCS phones &
service operating nominally while my phone was having 'issues.' Then the
big issue with the first Treo 600 I had was a yellow 'splotch' that appeared
on the LCD, obscurring part of the screen. It looked exactly like what you
might expect to happen if you dropped a marble on it or something, but
thankfully, it occured during a 10 or 15 minute time period during which the
phone was sitting in it's protective case right in front of me. Luckily
for me, I was able to convince the Sprint Tech of this, even though if I'd
have been the tech, I might not have believed it.

I was given a replacement phone, which operated fine for about two months,
and then it started going haywire -- not only the same 'network status'
problem as the first phone, but the unit would totally lock up, sometimes
while making a ringing noise. VERY embarassing to me (as well as
Sprint/PalmOne) when I'd stand there trying to shut the thing down, finally
resorting to pulling out the reset pin from the stylus & having to do a hard
    reset!

This would occur sproadically, but the network status problem happened
more frequently, until it finally stayed in that state.

Took it in to the same local Sprint store here in the Seattle area, and
thankfully, they replaced it without any questions, but they also told me
that the Treo 600 phones were basically junk, and have had more problems
than any other phone Sprint has sold. He wasn't really saying that to
badmouth the phone, but more as a word of caution to advise me that while
he'd be happy to switch out the Treo 600, he couldn't guarantee that the
replacement Treo 600 wouldn't start having it's own issues sooner or later.

That was at the end of August, and so far (knock on wood), this third
Treo 600 in about 10.5 months has been operating fine. However, based on
past experience, it's about due to start acting up any day now!

My two prior Treo 600s had their problems while using the latest
Handspring/PalmOne updates, with no other software installed into the PDA
side of the Treo. Sprint Tech support was contacted by phone & had no
solutions to offer regarding the problems other than the usual "Remove any
other software installed, do a hard CPU re-set, install the latest Treo 600
update" stuff, which I'd already tried on my own.

When I worked at Sprint, one of the most common causes of=20
problems with the Treo (and I'm talking Vision, since=20
that's where I worked) was simply due to the time/date not=20
    being updated.

Being a Palm, it gave the user the ability to set that time=20
and date. But if it wasn't in synch with network time, the=20
phone would fail to authenticate on Vision. I wonder if=20
this isn't causing problems on the voice side as well.
