Export from Palm address to .aba. Import after new installation.

You probably want to ask a Palm group, but I'd backup your Palm Desktop,=20
then delete it. Install the Desktop for the Treo, and then import the=20
old information. I would *guess* that this would work. But I am=20
    guessing.

First, make a backup copy of everything, just in case this doesn't work.
I've done this procedure for migrating from OS4 to OS5 devices and
between OS 5 devices, but I haven't done this for something as far back
    as OS 3.

Then, go into your Program Files, into the Palm directory, and look for
a folder with your username. Open it, and a folder labeled "address"
should appear. Drag that over to a location where you can save it, away
from the palm folder. You might want to do the same to any other
folders that contain any applications you want to keep.

Next, uninstall Palm Desktop. In theory, an upgrade should go smoothly
by just installing over the old directory, but in practice I've found
that all of your old software OS updates and any drivers that are
peculiar to your old device will end up finding their way into your new
Palm, and invariably force it to crash and require a hard reset.

Now, install Palm Desktop for the new device, and sync it once. After
the sync completes, copy over all of the files you saved into the
locations they were before, and sync again. This SHOULD restore all of
your contacts and saved apps. Once you've verified that everything
works and everything transfferred correctly, you can get rid of your
    backup copy.

Isiah, thank you for these excellent directions. Worked perfectly to
transfer from a Palm V to Treo 650 from a Windows XP machine.
