My son beats the hell out of his phone battery-wise, which is
currently an A460. I'd like to get him a phone that has the best
    battery life -

Is there an extended-life battery for the A460, or is there a phone in
Sprint's current stable that really kicks ass for battery life?

    Thanks

The RL2000 is known to have superior battery life. I have one with the
extended battery and I can go probably seven days or more without a charge.
They don't sell that model any more but they do have an updated model of
that phone and it might have the RL2000's battery life. It's a silver
    candybar type phone.

Most if not all the newer phones will have longer battery lives. In saying
that, your question is very subjective, considering how your son may have
been using his 460 in the past, and will be using his new phone, with the
following options available - Vision, games, messaging, taking pictures,
accessing pictures on the phone and applications. Each time the phone is
used, the background light comes on, which uses up battery power.

As for extended batteries, they normally offer a 25% - 40% increase in
battery life, than the standard battery, but makes the phone a bit more
    bulkier.

Batteries normally have a 400 "full charging" cycle, before they start to
degrade. Your son's battery might have reached or come close to that level,
to where the battery isn't charging to the prior full capacity available.
Possibly, getting a new battery for your son's phone might help, but OEM
batteries cost $50 or more. You can probably find cheaper batteries by non
OEMs, but they will still be in the $30 range.

It may just be more cost effective to buy a new phone, considering all the
new features available on the phones these days.

You can buy an extended battery for the A460 for $49. Go to
    www.samsungusa.com | Wireless Phones | Accessory Store.

Also, this site, where I've bought from before, is sellling the same
    Samsung battery for $43
    http://www.cellularaccessory.com/a460batteries.html

But Bob Smith is right. I stopped using my A460 many months ago. It's
    time for a new phone.

I believe the Sanyo RL4920 has longest talk-time battery life of any
current Sprint phone, with its standard battery. Extended batteries are
available for most phone models for about $50. You can read more about
the 4920 and other models at

Thanks for your ideas and those of earlier posters on the thread.

My son eats his battery life just by talking, so it looks like the
RL4920 is ths solution. I've showed it to him and he's not partial to
the clamshell form-factor. That it has Vision is a big plus, and it
also looks like we can buy the puppy for only about 30 bucks.

    Thanks for your feedback!

I guess I would recommend a Sanyo 8100 or 8200 with an extended battery.
I used to get excellent battery life on my 8100 when I had it with a
    standard battery.
