Interesting topic story on phonescoop.com
http://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=1047 . The possibilities of
Sprint and Time Warner hooking up don't particularly excite me, but I am
excited that Sprint is trying to make some moves and do some different
things rather then stand still.
Time-Warner Looking to Enter MVNO Game
Today, 11:04 AM source: Reuters
Reuters and the Wall Street Journal are reporting that Time Warner is in
talks to offer cell phone service over Sprint's network on a trial basis
early in 2005. The deal would make Time Warner the only major cable company
able to offer cell phone, television, high-speed Internet, and land-line
phone services, all on one bill. The initial trial would start in Kansas
City, Missouri, in the first quarter of next year, according to sources.
Such a deal would make Time Warner an MVNO (mobile virtual network
operator), a company that provides cell phone service independently, but
uses the network of another company. Sprint already has MVNO relationships
with Virgin, Qwest, ESPN, AT&T, and Liberty Wireless. The companies have
confirmed negotiations, but declined to discuss details.

Re: Sprint & Time Warner?
Nothing new there as Qwest has been doing it for many months, ESPN and ATT
are going to be doing the same thing. It is just an extreme version of a
reseller.
