I'm not surprised that a simple software update didn't turn out right.
At least your phone still worked. When I took mine in for an update (it
was dropping calls, or people would say they called me and my phone
never rang, but I could make calls okay) the tech had it no longer than
30 seconds when he said "your phone doesn't work at all". Then even the
manager of the store wanted me to pay for a replacement. It took a lot
of back and forth with him before I finally got a refurbished phone at
no cost after 4 business days.
