Sprint is rolling out a major high-speed data network and most of it's
newer bluetooth phones will be of the "smart" variety so that this
expensive network can be sold to users. They are targeting business
and data users very heavily. Cingular does not. Therefore, the phone
    selection will slant toward "smarter".

That being said, they have a couple non-smart Bluetooth phones, but
they are not investing in a humongous selection.

People who depend on Bluetooth tend to skew in the direction of people
who depend on higher-end phones and higher tech devices. So Sprint is
unlikely to roll out 10 bluetooth-enabled dumbphones for Jane Soccermom
to choose from. I don't know that the market is there to support that
    many bluetooth dumbphones.

I think you need to define "smart" for us, then. As has been pointed
out, at least three new Samsung's that are not PDA-phones have been
released with BT Functionality. I don't think any of them would fall
under the category of "smart" phones as most people would use that
    term.
