    Hello,

I have a Sprint Audiovox PPC-6700 phone that I got for Xmas, and I'm finding
that although it'll connect to my Belkin F5D9230-4 wireless router when all of
its security is turned off, it doesn't even _see_ the router when the its
security is set to WPA-PSK. On the other hand, at another location I have a
Linksys WRT54GC router that also has WPA-PSK enabled and the PPC-6700 can
connect to it with no problems whatsoever.

Anyone have suggestions on what I might try on the PPC-6700 before I just
return the Belkin and get another Linksys router?

    Thanks,
    ---Joel Kolstad

Joel, have you tried contacting Belkin CS yet?

No, primarily because my experience with any big electronics company (not just
Belkin, I'd lump LinkSys, Dell, Sony, etc. into this category as well) is that
it's much, MUCH harder and time-consuming to get any answers out of them than
to just go back to a store and get an exchange.

However, I did manage to get it working! A hard reset was required, so
apparently the problem was on the PPC-6700 end and not the Belkin end. Still
very strange that it worked with security turned off...

I don't have any belkin electronic devices (have a few non-electrical
accessories), so I've had no need to call their tech support. In saying
that, I have called Linksys a few times and after a rather lengthy hold
time, did get some excellent service & advice, when my wireless router was
    crapping out.

Short story long, if you see this problem again, try giving Belkin's CS a
    call.

Maybe easier for you, but if I call a tech support number and get put on
hold, I switch to speaker phone and go about something else. I would much
rather do that than spend an hour going to Fry's or wherever to find a
replacement that I have no idea will work.

Fair point, but keep in mind that I already had a 'known good' router model
(the Linksys WRT54GC), so the trip to Fry's would be more like half an hour.

My experience with those big manufacturers is that something more than 90% of
the time they're unable to solve my problems anyway (and I'd certainly be the
first to admit that plenty often it's not concluseively their products but
some weird incomptability between _all_ the stuff in your system where even a
good troubleshooter on the other end of the phone realistically couldn't be
expected to make it work) and you have to return the product anyway. :-(

Although the problem is fixed, I'm almost tempted to call up Belkin and see if
they're interested in troubleshooting a connectivity problem with a Windows
Mobile device connecting to it... I kinda think not.
