Well then I was lied to by Sprint I returned the phone and went back to
my 8300 not 8400 as preveously posted. I only think that it is the way it
was described to me because I live in an evdo area I mush have it.
    Nothing more I can say.

After reading all the posts, I'm still not sure what the issue is.

Obviously a non-EVDO phone can't use Power Vision.

Is Sprint saying an EVDO phone can't use regular Vision? Surely they
can't put out a phone that can't use the majority of its data network.

Is Sprint saying an EVDO phone has to be signed up for a Power Vision plan?

Is Spring saying you can't downgrade the option to regular Vision?

    It's becoming clearer.

That wasn't in question. (Though I hope the OP realizes the 8300 cannot
be used for tethering, if that was something he did previously.)

    >

"Sprint" is not officially saying it; some of their employees (or
contractors) are apparently (erroneously) saying it.

    > Surely they
    > can't put out a phone that can't use the majority of its data network.

And they haven't. But with such a ridiculously small EV-DO rollout,
combined with the emphasis on the branding of "Power Vision," there was
little doubt confusion would occur. This is exacerbated by that fact
that many front-line employees themselves--apparently--don't have a clue
as to what is going on.

Yes--and that's where the problem is. Originally they were adamant about
it, but you could find someone to help get around it. Apparently now the
"solution" is to allow you to go with a regular Vision plan after some
period of time (at least for now).

Coincidently, the $10 Vision Pack went bye-bye soon after Power Vision
rolled out. Obviously you'd be pretty ticked off if you were forced into
a more expensive Power Vision plan when you aren't even in an EV-DO
coverage area. Solution? Raise Vision to match the starting price-point
of Power Vision. How nice of them.

Again, some CSRs are saying this; others are not. I don't know if this
is an "internal" CSR work-around to keep folks happy, or official Sprint
    policy.

We had the same problem. Got a new EVDO phone and they require the $20
Power Vision package if you want to send photos, which is the ONLY thing
we use it for. So we dropped Vision altogether.

Yup, that is exactly what we are doing, and that's why we dropped Vision.

    Just received Mrs. Notan's bill...

The plan she was "forced" to purchase, when she got her A900, was
    the "Power Vision Ultimate Pack."

She, has since, switched to the "Vision Plus Pack," which includes
sending/receiving photos. (At $15/month, I don't know if this is the
real price or a promotion given to her for being a customer since
the days of the "Pioneer Plans.")
