How long is it taking these days to get a new phone activated? I
bought a new Motorola C290 yesterday and now 24 hours later I'm STILL
getting "Your account cannot be validated" when I try to make a call.
Can't send any text messages either...

Mine was usable within 15 minutes after porting my number. Your mileage may
    vary...

    Re: Provisioning time

I can remember being able to use my PREVIOUS phone just as I was
leaving the store. It's not that I'm coming from another carrier--I've
been a Sprint customer since 1999. But by now I'm so dependent on my
mobile I feel like I've been amputated. If I took the new one back
would they be able to reinstate my old clunker?

I've never had it take more than an hour.

They would, but you'd be the worse for it. My guess is that
somewhere in the provisioning process someone entered a wrong digit.

Just a guess, but it shouldn't take so long ever.

I was told four for the porting process itself. Sprint sent an incorrect
address to Verizon the first time -- my Victorville address, which was no
longer valid since I had moved to Apple Valley. I called and they resent the
info to Verizon (the correct info this time), and the port itself was
complete within the four hours. They tell you it'll take up to six hours
after the port is complete to actually have the phone completely activated
(at least that's what they told me), but it wasn't very long before I could
use my phone. Definitely not six hours after the port went through.

    Re: Provisioning time

A month ago, took a minute or 2 to switch to a new phone in the store.

    Re: Provisioning time

Found the issue...sales rep had installed a second line! The new
handset was programmed for THAT. I don't NEED a second line and have
no use for it. Spoke with someone in Retention (a first for me) who
deleted the superfluous line, then reprogrammed my new handset (again).
Still waiting for it to take.

It took. All of my incoming text messages and voicemails hit all at
    once. No longer feeling amputated!
