I got a mail offer from Sprint today. They are offering me a $100 credit on
my bill if I renew my contract for 2 more years. That isn't a problem but
will I sacrifice my phone upgrade credit if I take the offer or are they
    seperate deals?

Totally separate deal. Your upgrade status is only based on how long you have had your phone.

I am a little late to this party but I would say that the $100 should
not affect his ability to get new phones. The phone credit is a periodic
thing that's based on how long you've had your phone, not your contract
status. For example I have two lines on my account, that were added two
months apart. When the first phone becomes eligible for the credit, I
take advantage of it by re-signing up for the contract. Two months
later, I do the same to the other phone, thus re-upping my contract
again. The fact that I just renewed two months prior has no impact on
the credit avaialbility for the second line, and neither should this.

Since he's going to renew in order to get the phones, it makes sense to
take the $100 too - since it won't even extend the final duration of his
contract (it will be two years from when he gets the new phones)...
