I called to change my address, and the rep offered me 8pm-7am evenings
(& WEs). Everything else (minutes, expiration) stayed the same. Both
phones/plans on my (business plan) account. Downside is that I can't
check usage until the change takes effect, at the start of my next
billing cycle.

Nice. Did you have to renew your contract for this? I thought the 8pm-7am
option was an extra cost add-on.

Yes, you. the 8PM option isn't an add-on. It's in the voice plan itself,
and that's part of the deal. You give us another year, we give you 8PM.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it sure sounds like a way to lock people up
before number portability comes!?

Re: 8pm - 7am evenings & weekends
The question I have is what plan did you get the 8pm NW on? I have the
2000 minute plan and they said they don't have a plan with 2000 mins
with 8pm NW.

Not wrong at all. We give you a little something, an ask for some loyalty
in return. I think you're absolutely right.
I'm curious, if the one taking the 8PM offer is happy, do you think there's
something wrong with this? You sound like maybe not, but I'd like to see
you say yea or nay explicitly.

Re: 8pm - 7am evenings & weekends
A friend of mine got the 8PM Nights and Weekends without having to sign
up for another year. As an earlier poster said, no other changes were
made to the account ($30 for 300 AT, LD and Unlimited NW). I asked for
and received the same offer and they threw in 2 months of Unlimited
Vision and $10 credit to download ringers and screensavers.

Same here. They wanted another year for unlimited nights and weekends.
Didn't think it was worth it since it's pretty difficult to use up
3,000 night and weekend minutes. Contract expires at the end of the
year. By that time, LNP will be available.
I don't plan to switch, but if another carrier offers a really, really
good deal, then maybe. Off contract on two lines and a really good deal
... time for the big switchero!
I would definitely commit for another year if I got my current day time
minutes (650) doubled at the same monthly rate ($30). That would be
1300 any time, any where minutes for $30 ... not too bad!!!
Maybe, just maybe, they will loosen their retention belt come LNP time.
Who knows. We all wait and see.

Re: 8pm - 7am evenings & weekends
O/siris is this only being offered to customers whose contracts are close

Re: 8pm - 7am evenings & weekends
It's kind of free, kind of not.
My guess is that they are "giving" you something for the $1.10 WLNP fee which doesn't cost anywhere
near $1.10 to implement. They've already pre-charged you for something, and now they are giving a
little something. A decent gesture.
I don't know why they aren't giving this goodie to people on high-dollar (and minute) plans.
Aren't people on these plans just as, if not more retention-worthy?
