Man, this post sums up my 8100 frustrations right now.
I've had this "icon" for 2 days no that will not go away. I've
certainly checked every type of every possible message I have, and even
deleted them. I've rebooted my phone. Everything. Still the Text
Message icon will not go away.
And I also hate that when you hit "View" to a new message, it does not
go straight to that message. Any way to do that?

Call and leave yourself a message from a landline. Then check your
voicemail and delete the message. Wait for the "there are no new messages"
and then hang up. It will go away. The trouble you indicate happens when
you hang up before the phone receives the "no messages" signal.

I've heard that this is not a user-fixable problem, but a "known issue"
at Sprint.

Re: Mysterious envelop icon on Sanyo 8100
yeah, after I delete the last message in my box, I always watch the
screen and wait for the icon to go away before I hang up....but this
won't solve his problem if he had a text message indicator stuck on.

Re: Mysterious envelop icon on Sanyo 8100
Sprint must have recieved enough calls on it though. They had Samsung
build in an actual menu item to clear the voicemail indicator off the
screen.

Re: Mysterious envelop icon on Sanyo 8100
Doing a phone reset might help if the problem isn't with sprint. I need
to use the clear icon button to clear it the first time I got my n400s
and a500. after I listened to and cleared the icon it never happened on
that phone again.

Re: Mysterious envelop icon on Sanyo 8100
Sanyo also had an option to clear the call count or something like that.
Just go to Voice Mail and then Clear Count in your menu system but
if you want to avoid that in the future, just make sure the New Mail
indicator goes off before you hand up the phone when checking voice
mail.
