See my post regarding Sprint PCS CSR, as near as I can tell the on-line
activation only works for new phones. And barely at that. For an ESN swap,
especially to an odler handset they pop up some generic messages about it
being unable to process.

Well, as long as you at least try, you don't have to pay the ESN swap fee.
Just mention it to them when you call *2.

I tried to activate two phones in the last several months online. Both
failed (Sanyo 4900 and 8100). Each time I had to plead my case to avoid the
activation fee. It wasn't as easy as simply stating that I had previously
tried to activate online.
Now that I think of it, I've *never* been able to activate online.

Re: On Line Esn changes
last week, I had to do an esn swap, twice, really first time wasn't able
to try on line change, but while on a non vision phone, although I
never followed thru, appeared that it would work--again on switch back
to vision phone, didn't use online--switched back, first time mention
there would be no charge, second time, didn't come up--however, I would
suspect that they would go by what's published on their web page.

Re: On Line Esn changes
I've never been activate online either. But last week when I tried to
switch to an a500 on a620/vga1000, I had to call CSR and there was no
problem or charge. I just told them I tried to activate online but
failed.

Where does one go online to do an ESN change to switch phones?

Re: On Line Esn changes
just go to sprintpcs.com, its at the bottom left of main page---don't
log in first or option disappears--some posts this month, appears not to
work if you have vision handset, but works for non vision---would you
please post what results you have.

Re: On Line Esn changes
If it doesnt work online, then you call *2 and HOPE they don't hit you with a
$36 Activation Fee. Also hope for a CSR that knows how to do an ESN swap. Often
there's a delay whil;e the hunt for their instructions. Thats one advantage of
having a phone through your employer. Business accounts don't get charged
Activation Fees.

Re: On Line Esn changes
It will work on Vision phones if they are a new line of service. But it
will error out on ESN swaps. There are multiple reasons for this, but
it boils down to lazy programming.

I tried it several times tonight, for an ESN swap to switch phones and
it says that the service for that is not available.

And it will always do that. You have to call Customer Service to do
that ESN swap.

Just got off the phone with CS and all taken care of. Just said I tried
to do it online and that it said I couldn't. They took care of it for
me, no problems at all.
