Alltel digital roaming SIDs will be in 10021, and should be out soon, they
were tested about a month ago.

You probably have, but the new Alltel in MI, WI and a few other states that
were centuryhell, cellulink, and a few other carriers are just now turing up
    CDMA.

SID 1258 is KS is Alltel, and only roams Analog. Hopefully they will
switch it to Digital/Analog as well. Also, 1411 wouldn't hurt, which is
CellularOne/Western Wireless, who has just completed a CDMA overlay on
    their TDMA/AMPS network.

I just wish that in Colorado, they would make it prefer Verizon's
digital over Verizons Analog. Up till 10018 or 10019, it prefered
AT&T'a analog. I miss the way I could set my A500 into CDMA only mode.
I can't do that on my 8100. The 8100 is much better in reception
though. So To sprint: INCLUDE 800MHZ CDMA Digital SID 58 - AKA Verizon.

When I was in Ark City back in Feb and March I was on SID 1258 and digital
roam with a V120c. I tried other phones that I brought with me and they were
all analog so I just switched back to the V120c.

    John...

Which PRL are you using? Has ALLTEL SID 1258 been shifted up in the
    preference hierarchy in later versions?

SPCS PRL 10015 prioritizes WWCA A-side SID 1411 over ALLTEL B-side SID
1258 in their overlapping licenses in eastern & central Kansas, RCC
A-side SID 1255 over ALLTEL B-side SID 1258 in western Kansas, as well
as USCC B-side SID 1272 over ALLTEL A-side SID 1258 (or SID 1271) in
CMA442 (Kansas RSA 15 - Elk) in southeastern Kansas. However, all do
appear to be included in the PRL. More, importantly, none are
    negative SIDs.

Previously, such would still have largely prevented any CDMA 800
roaming, as WWCA, RCC, & USCC were all TDMA/AMPS only. But, yes, you
are absolutely correct, WWCA did recently complete its CDMA1x 800
overlay in its Kansas RSAs, as did USCC in its lone Kansas RSA.
ALLTEL & USCC are both now CDMA1x/TDMA/AMPS 800, while WWCA is or soon
    will be CDMA1x/TDMA/AMPS 800 + GSM/GPRS 1900, thanks to a spectrum
    transfer & overlay agreement w/ VoiceStream T-Mobile.

Although SPCS PRL 10019 may still prioritize AMPS over CDMA, if the
user's handset can be programmed to disregard AMPS and utilize only
CDMA 800/1900, as many handsets can, CDMA 800 roaming on either WWCA,
ALLTEL, or USCC will result, regardless of the PRL preference.

Re: PRL 10020 is now available

Sorry about the long time before the response, Andrew. I've been away
from the newsgroups for a while. That's what software engineering
    classes will do to you..

Anyway, I am using PRL 10019, which appears to prioritize Alltel AMPS
over anything else while roaming. If I dial a bogus number, I get an
Alltel error message 99.9% of the time. Only once have I heard a
    Cellular One error message.

Then, I did once see my phone go into a digital roam in one spot in
Manhattan, one in an area that used to be very weak for Alltel, and they
must have put in a CDMA-only tower, as when I dialed, I got an Alltel
    error.

I use a Sanyo 8100, it would be really nice if it would let me choose
CDMA-only mode over analog, but it has no such option, and almost always
roams AMPS in KS. It sure would make my $5 F&CA so much better if I
could get some digital roaming in. In Wichita, it does roam onto Verizon
CDMA right before Sprint coverage picks up, I have noticed however. So,
there is some (possibly) good news.
