I was at the State Fair on Friday and could barely recieve incoming calls or
make outgoing calls. Lots of calls go to voicemail. OK, I understand it is
probably a capacity issue (although I am surprised they didn't bring in
additional coverage via a mobile). In any event, I thought it was a
capacity issue. But since then, I have noticed reduced signal everywhere I
go and I have also had dropped calls. My wife just called me and she said
that her phone told us there was signal fade. She was driving within 2
blocks of the tower! Voice quality has suddenly gone to hell as well.

So, is there something going on in my area right now, or Sprint PCS in
    general?

Tom, have you tried calling CS yet? I believe even the lowest tier CS rep
can see if they are doing maintenance in your area. If they aren't working
on the system in your area, I'd suggest making a trouble ticket, with the
addresses / cross streets where you are noticing the reduced amount of
    coverage.

The same thing happens here sometimes when a big event such as a County
Fair or Laker championship parade happens. There's just too many users
for the network to handle at one time. In most cases Sprint will not
bring in a a portable cell site on wheels to help capacity even though
they should. In order to do that there's a lot of red tape and expenses
involved so they just don't do it.

That doesn't affect the rest of the city though. What I thought was a
capacity problem at the fair seems to be system wide, since we are
occasionally experiencing this in other areas (like our home tower more than
    25 miles from the fair).
