I purchased the SnapDialer software from Best Buy on Sunday so I could use
my N400 with my WinXP home system (currently I had the cable and didn't need
    any software for my PowerBook).

I installed the software, entering the S/N along the way and it works fine -
Except! - I get a notice asking me to register the software whenever I start
up but in order to do so, I have to be online. Unfortunately, Sprint is my
only Internet connection for the next month (I'm waiting for a new phone
line...just moved to a newly built house and Qwest can't get its act
together.) Meanwhile, the software will expire in 4 more days. How can I
    prevent this?

I've sent email to [email protected] already but haven't received a
response yet. I've looked on the website but don't see any contact numbers.

I'm hoping others have run into this issue and can advise, thanks.

David, go to your public library, as most of them across the country are
equipment with computers and conntections to the internet, and register from
there. If you don't have an on line internet email address, i.e.: through
yahoo.com, excite.com, myway.com, etc., go to one of those sites and create
    one first.

If your local library doesn't have an online computer, then try Kinkos. It
will cost you a bit, but you can definitely get on line that way.

I just hope the online registration doesn't have to be performed on the
    computer with the software.

I'm surprised they *require* online registration. Isn't that usually
    an option for most software?

What happens if you skip the online registration or cancle at that
    point?

Connect using the regular Windoze dial up profile in your Networking folder
(Snap Dialer was really only useful for phones with serial or serial/USB
capabilites e.g. 5350LG and simply acts a onboard agent for MS's own DUN).
Once connected you can then fire up Snap Dialer and go through the
    registration asp-probe.

I believe you have to register 1 week after register. Otherwise, you
    need to buy another copy.
Get one free from sprintpcs here or from your account:

Pardon my ignorance: but is this dialer you all are discussing the one
one for the vision capable phones, or the old web stuff--also, has
sprint changed the vision connection program, the name appears to have
changed on the spcs web page--which would be the best to use with a
    usb/laptop connection, currently?

Did you also get SnapSync? How does it work? I want to get it but
have to wait until money isn't so tight...

    Bob,
I have no trouble getting online (software expires in 3 more days). The
point is that the FutureDialer software pops up its own registration window
and expects you to be online for it to work. However, the window prohibits
you from going online unless you hit "Cancel". And then, once you're online
you can't get the registration window to reappear.

If there were a way to register at their website, I would have done so.

    Thanks for the suggestions, though.

I didn't get SnapSync as that would require another cable as well as another
$30 for software. Also, I don't use the Windows machine all that much - the
cell phone is primarily for use with my PowerBook (for which neither drivers
    nor software was required...*sigh*)

    Re: Need help registering SnapDialer

If you go to CompUSA the FutureDial combo "SnapDialer and SnapSync"
are free after rebate. You don't need another cable. The USB cable you
have works OK. As far as the registration is concerned, you have to go
to the FutureDial site and regiter there. You have to enter your name,
the serial number of the software and your e-mail address. They will
e-mail you an activation code which you will enter next time you start
the SnapDial software. But for dialing out you don't need the
software. After istalling the USB drivers, your phone will be
registered as a modem. Create a dial-up icon and enter #777 as the
dial-up number. No passord ur user name ant on you go on the internet.
As far as the SnapSync software is concerned it is so-so. Noting
    special.
